We'll be leaving about lunchtime on the Friday and its a long weekends riding as we have to come back on the Sunday so it'll be a relatively gentle bimble over with a few stops along the way, but if anyone fancies meeting up and riding over as a group that'd be nice :riding:

Right, change of plan, I will be driving deep into the depths of EAR (I never go more Eastern than Peterborough normally )...

So a genuine offer to meet up and get things off people if they need it to save their backs or whatnot...

maviczap
09-07-10, 05:33 PM
Not sure what the arrangements are Plowsie & who's going when.

I'm prob going to meet up with Kellyjo & Jeff, with my mate Paul, but times and place haven't been sorted yet.

Plus other folk haven't said when they're heading over.

I should be ok with my stuff, but thanks for the offer

Hey plowsie,

Could do with not having to load stuff onto the bike and can offer some beer tokens:smt030, fuel for your time.

Any idea when and where you'll be in the EAR area?

Cheers Martin.

I dont recall you being any slower than the rest of us Martin, and of course you are more than welcome to come with us. Was planning to leave here 12-1 ish so we arent in any hurry, lots of drink stops if its hot.

I havent even looked at a map yet, Dickie have you got any ideas of a route in mind? Dont fancy miles of motorway but dont want it to take forever either, maybe 'A' roads?? I'll have a look later today x

We're going early to take BanannaMan out for the day, but this is the way I would go. Only about 2 miles of motorway and only 3 miles longer than the motorway option although allegedly an hour extra. Nice tea stop at Little Malvern.

I was hoping I was going to catch KJ out with the 'Sally' reference :)

Did think it was a little odd i have to admit, and i did wonder if that might be you referring to your sat nav, but then i thought "surely Dickie wouldnt be THAT strange....." :p

Only joking hun, good to know one of us will know which way to go!!
Im ok if i write a list of road numbers and put in in my map holder but i advise you NEVER EVER EVER follow Jeff if you're unsure, even when he knows which road we're looking for he has a habit of wandering off in the most obviously WRONG direction and then having to u-turn in the most worrying spots :smt011

Thats why he's the only HGV driver i've ever met who never has to go further than 5 miles from his depot in his truck!!!

maviczap

Right getting organised now

I've modified Pete's suggested route for mine & Suzuki Paul's needs, as we don't really want to go from Peterbough. I've also avoided going through Ledbury as there's big event on there

Thanks to the link Seggons posted up I've loaded the route from Goolgemaps onto Sally.

So here's our route. Who's joing us?

KJ I'd suggest meeting up at either Kettering services on the A14 or just off junction 1 of the M6, which is where Sally is required.

Let me know any problems or ideas to make this work smoothly :p

kellyjo

Route looks fine Dickie, thought the same myself cos i live nearer Huntingdon than Peterborough.

The easiest place for us to meet will be Brampton Hut Services at the A14/A1 junction. that is only 5 mins from mine and actually on route :-)

Is Rich riding with us do you know?

Martin, do you want to meet us at Brampton too?

Forgive the REALLY stupid question but ive only ever ridden alone, as a couple or as a big group. Whats the etiquette when riding in a small group? I assume you're leading as you have sat nav, do we do the drop off system or just try and stay together....dont want to do anything stupid and cause confusion!!!

maviczap
23-07-10, 09:12 AM
Brampton Hut is perfect and on route, I'd forgotten about that.

As for the etiquette, we should be alright, but maybe using the drop off system would be advisable.

Better let Paul know :p

But as there's no hurry, we should be ok. Perhaps scheduled stops might be an idea, just in case anyone gets dropped?

petevtwin650

But as there's no hurry, we should be ok. Perhaps scheduled stops might be an idea, just in case anyone gets dropped?

Here might be a good place to stop.

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?hl=en&doflg=ptm&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=100452913085225131268.00048beb1967ed1f98c1c&ll=52.204973,-1.876675&spn=0.000735,0.002747&t=h&z=19

It's got fuel, hot and cold drinks and some hot savoury stuff, plus sandwiches etc and a Little Chef right next door.

You literally pass it as you go from Stratford to Arrow.

Anyone know if Rich (and Mrs Rich?) is riding with us?

Im getting well excited, and hopefully everything I wanted to do to my bike will be done, just waiting for the seat cowl to turn up so I can get it resprayed and dried in time, then she'll be a full on Triumph Superbabe :p

Jeff still hasnt ordered the rack for his bike as he's unsure how it fits, as usual he's leaving it til the last minute then it'll be down to me to get it sorted, tut!

Dickie and Martin, would it be an idea to swap mobile no.s just in case we need to get in touch along the way...

9 sleeps to go :p:p

Looking to rendevous at Brampton Hut at about 1 on the Friday

How does that sound?

kellyjo
28-07-10, 02:26 PM
1 o/c should be good, i'm having trouble getting the commitment from my ex that he'll have the kids early (he wouldnt normally have them til 3.30) but im sure hes just being awkward, usually is  it should be fine!!!

kellyjo
03-08-10, 02:54 PM
I was right, my ex is being a PITA and wont have kids :-( but luckily my mum will :-) so we'll definitely be at Brampton Hut at 1pm with full tanks!!

I rode mine for the first time in 3 weeks this morning, its been sat in the garage whilst I've been busy getting her new bits sorted and on, adjusting suspension and general spanner wielding, and she's ABSOLUTELY FAB!!! I'm now officially sooooooo excited :p:p:p:p

Its going to be an interesting 48 hours for Jeff though whos got trouble with his front tyre. Apparently after his last ride (a couple of weeks ago!) he thought his front end felt wrong so yesterday (!!!) he checked the tyre to find a pressure of 9psi!! He inflated it and its gone down 2psi in the 24 hours since then so now he needs to get it sorted. He's working nights all week, i'm not insured for the bike and cant help anyway cos ive got the kids here, so its going to be an intersting one!!!

It isn't the varied temperature, it's either a duff valve, poorly fitted tyre or slow puncture. He defo needs to sort it.
