What does it mean by riding "hard" ??

Seriously now, my dealer asked if i rode the bike "hard" because both front and back tyres were worn down the middle and hardly any wear at the sides - mileage currently 8k. I'm a go-slow biker, not a boy racer.....

i would imagine he means if your hard on and off the throttle and throwing it into corners.

If they're worn as you say it doesn't really mean you ride hard or not. You might corner very hard but mostly use your bike for straight mileage and motorways etc making them wear in the middle, or you might not. I think most peoples tyres wear like this really....

8000 miles on a standard D220 is very good going, so your dealer is an idiot for even asking - in fact 8000 miles from any tyre is bloody good going. He should be able to tell that you don't abuse the bike by looking at how many miles you've got from the tyre and the lack of hard cornering you've done. Sounds to me like you've been a bit gentle with it to be honest.

Seriously, if my dealer started asking stupid question like that I'd search out somewhere else to take my bike.

Thanks everyone. The only time I've had my knee on the ground was when the bike fell of it's sidestand ! I've been VERY gentle, Lozzo, and have never felt the need to risk life and limb for that "rush" of adrenalin ! Good to hear that I've got good mileage out of the tyres though, I now just need to ask the wife for some pocket money to buy new ones.....

Sounds to me like he's a **** as Lozzo says or taking the ****, either way I'd be looking for a new tyre fitter. Lol. As to how you ride mate, the point is that you DO ride and you obviously enjoy it so good on yer! Some people's adrenalin peak is lower than others, lucky them they'll probably live longer. :cool:
