View Full Version : EAR end of summer rideout....
kellyjo

OK, having missed the last one Im in need of an EAR fix so thought we could start arranging a date for the next rideout.
Some of us are heading to Wales for AR10 on 6th August so I was thinking end August/ early September. Maybe we could do Graffham to Hunny again like we did last September??
Stick the days you're available on the poll and we can take it from there. Ive only put Sundays cos Saturdays seem to be 'family' days for those of you that are quite rightly 'under the thumb' :p

Ive put my name down to all but obviously some of those dates i'll have the kids at home.
If thats the case on the chosen date then im sure my lovely mum will take them off my hands :p
Should be going to court around that time of the year so a good rise out would be very welcome to take my mind off things.
Voted - hopefully I can make whatever date is chosen :)

Need to start thinking of a route...any ideas? Or do we just want to run to Hunny the way we went last September with Mike (leaving from Graffham)?
Come on guys, list your favourite roads and we'll see if we can link them together to make a route :p
kellyjo
13-08-10, 09:57 AM
So where do you fancy then? I can come up with a route but it'll only be roads this side of the region cos i only know the road to hunny over your side!!!
We could head back over this way if you like - could even have two leaders - one doing the bit they know and then swapping over?

I am pretty confident I will be able to make this now - haven't been out on the bike for fun in ages - commuting just isn't the same :(
Should be there aswell my managed to ride 200 miles on wednesday with my knackered arm and it wasn't to bad so should be completely fine in a months time.

Your thoughts please....
deltron
16-08-10, 03:12 PM
Either option sounds good to me. Going to the coast would be good, it's always nice catch a rare glimpse of the sea! My suggestion would be Southwold (the beer is good there!) :)

Judging from the map It's a long way to the start for moi.
I'd probably meet up in/near stowmarket if I'm wanted. Hopefully the dear grandma will be recovered and out of hospital by then so I can go visit at her house and join in on the way through!

85 miles to the start for me (I live in Wymondham) - but its a usual thing with an EAR rideout that I will have to travel to get to the start - roads are empty early in the morning so I just consider it a little rideout on my own :)

As Skip said, we are such a spread out group wherever we start there is always going to be a few who have to travel.
If we start at the west of the region eg Perry then we usually end up in the east so those who travelled to the start dont have far to go home, but those near the start have a trek back after, and vice versa. At least its fair that way.
Having said that, the rides are always worth the trip!! If you can do the full ride then I urge you to try, it'll be a laugh, and a great experience for a new rider, i should know cos i was in your position this time last year and it did me the world of good! :p

You'll be fine - just think that its only one way - the ride-out is effectively bringing you back home :) I will still have to ride from Southwold back to Wymondham!
