I'm new to biking, I don't even have a license yet. I decided to get some gear first and as title says I need some opinions on this helmets AGV stelth (http://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_cat/837) as I like the way they looks . Thanks a lot in advance

You need to get to a bike shop and try some on. I liked a couple of lids on the internet, but when I went to the shop they did not fit properly. A good shop will help you choose the right lid for your budget and fit.

It is paramount that the lid fits otherwise you may as well not wear one.

+1 what shonky said. Helmets come in varying shapes, so its best to try a number of brands and even within a brand they can have alternate shapes.

Trust me you want to take care in picking your lid, it will save your life! I came off only a couple of weeks ago and my lid went down the steel barrier, leaving gouges that made it look like a mental tiger had clawed it.

I came away with no injuries thanks to a bit of luck and really good kit!

Sorry if it sounds scary, but your lid is so important, you want to get the best fit and looks come a far second - to me at least, just my tuppence worth.

Hope you get what you're after and enjoy biking, and stay safe out there

Cheers

Good to hear you are ok Cumfy.
Yes I 100% agree to what Shonky said. All I'm asking for is if anyone have got an experience with this helmets and what you think about them. Maybe some recommendations for other helmets for about 200/250 quid??

cheers

Problem with E-Bay is you can't try them on before buying----sort of contradicts the rest of the thread.
Try the AGV S-4 well within your budget and ticks all the boxes. The one thing I will say, whichever helmet you buy get some DECENT earplugs

I have the Rossi K3, that's got a good sharp rating and fits like it should.

AGV are running an offer for 25% off a helmet if u take ANY lid in to 'trade in' as such, can have been crashed or anything as only the chin strap gets sent to them! If u have any mates with an old banged up lid could save you a fare few bob!

Just though i'd let you know seeing as you are looking at AGVs from the sound of it (not sure how long the offer has left, already been extended once!)

Alfa - I have the Stealth in the St George design and an Arai. In comparison the Stealth is slightly lighter and slightly better at higher speeds due to the profile, but it does not have the ear recesses of the Arai and the cheek pads do push into your cheeks more. This means it's not as comfy over longer distances.

Also, I find that the chin of the Stealth touches the shoulders of my leathers when I do a full lifesaver...

As already mentioned several times make sure you get the fit right. Most lids have different colour options. So you can sort the fit and have a good chance of getting the asthetics you want.
