Sure was, haven't managed to get hold of x-rays yet, but he said it was a difficult one to do, the bone was split in three.

Op was over two weeks ago, and it still bloody hurts!

i have 2 steel plates and 7 nifty stainless steel screws from mine and it was still kinda tender for a few months... and then they took all the bits out and it hurt again... then i broke it again... and one more time after that, until they took a piece of my hip and rebuilt it

if they gave you that stupid body sling, make sure you start squeezing a rubber ball soon as you can... i'm sure it's the sling that caused muscle atrophy

my old neighbour- was about 92

he only had one eye.. we used to sit on his bench and he would regail me with stories of the war over tea and biscuits.. for hours..

one story was how he lost his eye . in a landrover that got blown up by a mine.. killed his mate.. he survived and he and 2 others crawled in to some undergrowth and they got attacked by a wild boar..his mate had his stomach ripped up and he lost his eye... he had scarring round the eye too..

I always admired him for that ..

He died, at his funeral the vicar read out about his life and the army and the war.. and how when he came out of the army he became and engineer and had a bad accident in the foundry in which he lost his eye !!!

I laughed.. the old codger had had me over.. aww

RIP Sid Williams
