Bought my sv650 two days ago (03) only to have my lovely other half try to move it and have it crash down, kind of regret putting the steering lock on now.
The only damage i've noticed is the gearshift pedal peg has snapped off.

My bike knowledge is fairly limited and my funds are low so out of desperation i'm attempting a DIY jobo.
I removed the footpeg and the broken pedal but cannot for the life of me figure out on to disconnect the "rod".

Apologies that my first post is one asking for help, and again for how poorly I explained my problem!

Alex

Managed it, nevermind :)

greetings, see here (http://forums.sv650.org/showpost.php?p=2320663&postcount=2), and it explains how to adjust the gear lever rotate it far enough and it'll come undone.

Oh and stick your location in your profile so others can work out whether you're local to them.

Cheers Mark.

I did that the otehr day :)

There's 2 10mm bolts on a "rod" that comes from the gear shifter than need undoing, and a circlip that holds the actual shifter in place.

Takes about 20 seconds if you know what you're looking for.

I drilled a hole through mine and bolted the rubber but back on so I could ride it over the weekend.

Got a new one delivered yesterday but not had a chance to bolt it on, £73! However I think it's a lot cheaper for older models, £30 I reckon.

Is the clutch lever ok? And indicator.

I ran mine for ages with the peg bolted to the lever, i didnt even take it off the bike, just drilled and tapped it on the bike then used a half nut on the back to lock it.
Worked absolutley fine.

Thanks for the replies :)

The peg snapped in such a way that I can't well it back on, I have however ordered a replacement (£20 on fleabay). I think I should be able to fit it :p

Thankfully the indicator and mirror were fine, as were the fairings, was a huge relief! Still, bikeless for the weekend, just hope it rains ;D

Most garages / diy shops should have them or just give you one if you go in with the original if you dont know the size.

Oh right not the part which goes through the pin which is the hinge for the footpeg then

think the 03 uses a circlip and not a split pin will go and check in a min

EDIT: yup uses a circlip for the peg
