Yeah, my lil five foot baby sis is getting married to a six foot three Karate instructor and I have to be there for the practice tomorrow afternoon before the big day on Saturday. :D
Sis and chap are a beautiful couple and chances are I am going to cry. They have asked me to read out a couple of poems of my choice in the church and I have found some really lovely ones, not too soppy, but still nice.
Should be a great laugh.
My Brother will be leaving the wedding with my Mother. He left his wife of six years, two months ago to be with his Girlfriend and their brand new baby daughter. The girlfriend has kicked him out! :smt067
My Father and Step Mother think that Carol and I will very soon be splitting up because and I quote Lesbian relationships don't work! :smt067
My Mother is bringing her chap with her and they are both Buddhists. Should be fun when they meet the catholic Grooms family.
My sister's In Laws don't approve of Carol and I because we are bikers with a dirty great big dangerous sports Bike! :smt067
This is an all day event and there are not enough drugs in the world to make this day chilled out. There is going to be a fight. #-o
Most likely cause will be Me thumping the Catholic family members, for telling me I will burn for my deviant life style. Yes, I have that already... :smt014
Mainly, I am really looking forwards to it. My sister and her chap are lovely and we are very close, but I feel strangely ambivalent about the wedding. It is almost like I don't want to go. Oh well, worse things happen at sea! :bom:

Aahhhh gotta love weddings.....
Best bet would be to enjoy the occasion, be there for your sis and completely ignore everyone else. Oh and make it obvious about how madly in love with Carol you are (shouldn't be too hard hehe :-P).
I find family weddings are a pain in the ****. We deliberately didn't go to the last one as we couldn't be bothered with all the aggro that came with it, we don't regret it at all after hearing some of the ructions that occurred anyway lol.
Have a fun time :-)
If they start on you about being gay then you can always say 'Logs and splinters, my dear. I hear child abuse is rampant in the Church of Rome'

dont take the bait. you will be fine. smile and opologise for being such a dirt lezzer :smt110, they dont expect that. what they expect is for you to retaliate :smt014 and make their day.
but most of all ENJOY the occasion. its your sister and her hubby to-bee that are of most concern as its their day.
may their marriage be a long a prosperous one.
GG nailed it!
Then, after the wedding, go and give all the 'straight' women a tongue job.
Smile and apologise for being such a dirty lezzer :smt110, they dont expect that.
That is probably the best advice I have ever heard on the org. Loving It......
There's a signature quote if ever I saw one.

Don't Jayne, you're worrying me.
It's my daughter's wedding in 4 weeks and there are lots of people coing who really don't like each other and/or haven't seen each other for years. I'm hoping everyone has heard GG's advice.
Try camomile tea hun and have fun!

Oh thank you all so much, your replies have been inspirational, insightful and hillarious. It was just what I needed, the usual wicked input from the Org.
Thank you every one who replied, I have been stressing all day and it was only a lovely ride out to Bike Night this evening that chilled me out. Reading some of these replies brought forth some wicked laughs. You lot are amazing.
Top Marks for

Great advice, Might try that if the situation arises. :smt003 Although combined with the above could make the day for some of them! :smt110

Oh YC, I would love to take you there, not just for the fight, but because you would be some normal company for Carol and I! Well nearly normal... :smt003

Should just retort with "ya, with hot wax... is very nice... you should be trying it"
(in an Amsterdam police accent (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRfluaMKoOY))
Just get mashed on any sustance you can get you're hands on, will make the day go better ;)
I find alcohol works well for me...

Back home now.
Glad it is over, although my sister was beautiful and her new husband is lovely. I am going to be an Aunty from her too. Today has been hard work, but was worth it just for my sisters beaming smile.
I might have to thump my Gran though, is it wrong to punch an 80 year old, even if they are a fascist?

What did your gran say?
I love weddings, and funerals, once the drink's in, the sense goes out the window and the inevitable home truths come out, it's at this point the best move is to find a convenient corner and watch the mayhem.:smt035:smt035
ye cannae shove yer granny aff a bus.

Mad 80 year Old Grandmas with filthy mouths who witter through services and make unkind comments to helpful Granddaughters should be shot. :smt067
Priests who warn supportive sisters that they must show behavior appropriate for a church should expect to be reminded about child abuse cases being covered up. Fortunately supportive sisters are able to bite their tongues :smt014
Fathers who drone on and on and on, while managing to say nothing should expect to be told to shut up, especially when they managed to embarrass the Bride. :toss:
Mothers who sit alone and aloof will be ignored.
Older sisters who are asked to do a reading in Church, will be mildly surprised when the Grooms Mother likes it so much, she cries and asks for a copy of the poems. :D
Older sisters will grow more and more surprised when lots of people comment on her beautiful and well performed reading! :D
Older sisters will nearly cry when beautiful newly weds thank her for her reading and give her a present. :flower:
Flower girls should not be so sweet and lovely and then have tell off the brides sister for being silly, even though they are six and she is nearly forty! :smt003
Drunken younger brothers should not try to use a wedding as a cruising place to pick up his sisters unmarried friends! #-o
Drunken old lesbian Aunties should not accumulate around the Bride's sister, like Priests around an Alterboy. It is creepy and disturbing! :smt119
Hotel waiting staff who try to smother a laugh when asked by the Brides sister to slap the brides poorly behaved brother shall be tipped. :smt077
Best Mans speeches with that many Knob gags will cause tears of laughter from every one. :smt044
