View Full Version : Is 50/50% the new term for knock for knock
I finally got a letter from my accident claim saying on a 50/50% basis, does this mean we only get half what we want or i pay yours you pay mine?

I would guess it means you each get all your work done for the price of 50% of your excess and lose 50% of your NCB and/or have whatever impact a 50% fault would have on next year's premiums, but I'm sure someone will be along to correct me a minute!

i think it means both parties are equally to blame for the accident - so each will be sorted out by their own insurance. Win win for the insurance industry, both of you lose no claims.

IIRC the total claim is split 50/50 rather than each footing their own customers bill. 50/50 also means you both get screwed equally by the insurers. But even if they split it 90/10 you'd still get the same rectal rogering because you have been involved in a 'fault' claim.
Heads they win, tails you lose....
my insurance is cheaper i already renewed it £86 comp but it's my first smash since i was a kid.
i fractured three virtibrea and was in hospital 5 days so i'm claiming injuries not sure how much to expect.

TBH Smudge, I did ask Peg last tnight, but hes a bit unsure, as am I. He pretty much said what Keith has said. He thinks it goes, the total claim of both parties divided by half.
You might not get much in compo.

How 50/50 worked with me was my own claim of £3000 i just got half :( and I lost 2 years NCD :( bugger really when you are sure u wasn't to blame, if you refuse 50/50 and go to court with no whitnesses you could end up with nowt :(

Cheers Kwak I thought someone must have had this one.
I'm gonna be claiming for my opperation and my broken back I don't see how they can justify giving the car driver half of that when he wasn't injured. I havent lost my no claims though as I'm still with the same company and its cheaper this year?
