As some may know, I bought a brand new SV back at the beginning of 2002, use it to death through a couple of engines, 9 trackdays and some 153,000miles, 3 paint jobs and numerous mods; all within 2 years 3 months, I had great fun with it, and just parked it up in the garage, switching back to my beloved speed triple.

from a very basic

Anyway that way way back in March 2004, I got a low mileage engine, but never fitted it, it sat there until summer 2008, and as my niece was about to do a bike mechanical engineering degree, I gave her the bike on the provision she had two years to rebuild it, Tax, MOT & insure it, basically legal for her to use, should she fail the bike remains mine.

she's worked hard to change all the bushes/bearings, rebuilt the forks, new loom, and got all the oily bit running well, she'll be doing the bodywork over the next week or so.

It's booked in for the MOT tomorrow(it's never had one!), and insurance & tax once that's done (Her Dad is taking it down), so it'll soon be time to say goodbye from an ownership perspective, but be good to see the bike being used once more.

Cheers Mark.

Always nice to see a vehicle go to a family member and see it live on and another one of your family get the use of it. I am tempted to do the same with my wife's Seat Ibiza, which is an 03 plate and has never missed a beat since new, so I'm a bit reluctant to just get shot of it. I'd like to give it to my wee cousin, who is doing her driving lessons now, but the trouble is I could never have been in a position to do that when her older sister was learning to drive, and wouldn't be in a position to do it again for my other younger cousins who are 14 and 16, so it wouldn't really be fair to the others to give her 2 grands worth of car.

What I might to is lend it to her on long term loan, with the agreement that it stays my car and when she is finished with it she gives it back to me to sell.

So will we see your bike and your niece as on .org member any time soon? (or is she on here already?)

yeah sure, it was actually a very interesting spray job, stencils, back spraying all used, even did the screen from a clear stock one.

Oh she's here already and has been for the last couple of years, not very active, but lets face it she hardly needs tech advice with me as an uncle :smt102

she's been down Soho a couple of times and I'm sure she'll be down on the SV, but being at Swansea uni, she's away most of the term, although nothing to stop her going to some meets over there ?

Cheers Mark.

I knew it had 153,000 on it, but really didn't realise it was in such a short time!
Now it makes Peg putting 27,000 in a year on the ZZR look pathetic!

Would you mind awfully if I stole the second of your black and yellow designs?
It's really rather nice, and I've been looking for something black and yellow for some time, and it's really nice... of course I wouldn't have 'Rictus' on the side, but apart from that pretty much the same colours...

Not for a bit of time though, but yeah, would you mind?

I've just done three and got another two to do, plus four of my own, but they tend to get put back should anyone need help, so in short shout if you're totally screw and fairly local, but if not then I've more than enough to be getting on with.

By all means, I can probably sort you out some more pics from different angles, PM me after the AR.

the deed is done, Shell's off back to uni tomorrow, panels all painted and re-fitted( a bit of a blank canvas in white, but that's what she wanted), and the paperwork transfered for the princely sum of £1......

Well done, the girl done good, she's put a lot of time & effort into it. I rode it Monday and it works well, the brakes need re-bleeding, but apart from that it's all working nicely.

the link pipe can be fitted either way, the down position is good for luggage as it avoids contact with soft panniers, if you look at the pictures at the top you'll see it in the raised position as well.

Cheers Mark.
