Hey all. Just before I sold my 99 curvy. I fitted a ZX10R rear shock.

The battery wouldn't fit in normally so I put it on its side.

I assume the standard battery is a sealed Lead acid type. Will this be ok on its side, or do I need a gel battery.

I only ask as the girl who bought it asked for my help today as the bike won't start (not sure if its linked), I sold it to her in april.

Any advice?

Thanks

Maintenance free lead acid's shouldnt have issues.

Is the battery the original factory fitted battery?

Not sure how old it is. She did leave it for about 4 weeks, then just tootles to work and back which isn't far, so I suppose it could be nothing to do with being on it's side.

I'll recommend a no maintenance sealed battery then.

Cheers

flat worn out battery, sounds like the culprit.
Ducatti's have a 'on side' battery in a few models

Should have no issues with the battery being on it's side.
Did two of these conversions and one its still working the other I managed to crash.

Has the bike got an alarm on it?

As someone else said, if the battery was already weak and it had been left for 4 weeks that would most likely be the cause.

Could also be no fuel, not engaging the clutch when trying to start, clutch switch not working, the actual starter switch connection is loose a whole host of things.

I definately wouldn't say that the battery being on it's side was the most likely culprit.

Its definately a battery problem , as the Its showing 2.3V. So dead as a dead thing.

Good to know it doesnt matter about it being on its side.

I'll see her today and recommend a no maintenance sealed battery, and that she actually uses her optimator!

Cheers for the advice guys. Much appreciated.
