Anyone suffer disappearing emails? That's two important ones that have vanished this week :(

I simply use google mail as a front end to my mail system. I fetch everything from my google accounts to my mail server using fetchmail which then uses postfix to distribute it to the end users mailbox.

So it only gets lost if it disappears within the 5 minutes interval that I check for mail on google. This means I no longer mess about maintaining spam management etc. Let google do that.

I don't delete any emails at all, but the occasional one still goes walkabout. I think their conversation-style system makes some odd decisions. One email that went missing has turned up in my sent folder - as I had forwarded it. Why the hell would I want it moved?

Not noticed anything going missing but I know what you mean about the conversation-style way of presenting things, makes it difficult to find things sometimes after you have replied / forwarded.

no problems here, used gmail since it was invite only, you get used to the conversations and I now find it helpful.
haven't noticed anything going awol and not heard from anyone else I know of that uses it. Will keep and ear open for anyone else having similar things though.

The common denominator in these techno problems is always me

Cheers for all the responses :) a few googles suggests it isn't just me. Maybe worth keeping an eye on.

I had one that never arrived after I'd sent it twice from my Gmail, to my office address

We have just started using Gmail at work, and we have had missing emails/vanishing emails etc. Its the worst thing thats happened at work. You just cant seem to do everything you need to do using Googlemail.
Our last email facility enabled us to set up stationary and email templates but you just cant do that with Gmail. It makes for more time spent typing out emails from scratch everytime.
Personally i hate it!
