For all you other geeks out there, thursday is when the Perseids shower peaks, so lets all hope for a nice clear night!

Also makes for good photography.

When does it all kick off? Will they be visible tonight (Tuesday)?

Sweet , I remember the one back in the early 80`s , you just couldn`t point at one before another came along .

Firstly, don't ask what I am doing up at this time of night....MBK and Stretchie are still up too.

BUT...on the way back from the pub (we have zero light pollution here) I looked up and exlaimed, "OMG, look how many stars there are in the sky". It made Nic look up as well and we both saw a real mother fooker of a shooting star. Dan missed it, but the size of that thing, the length of it and the fact that it was visible for a good 3 seconds is a good indication of what is coming.

I was lucky enough to be in the Sonora Dessert on the AZ/Mexico border in 1999 when the Leonids meteor shower hit and my dad and I lay on top of the RV with a pitcher of Maragritas from 1am-3.30am watching what I can only describe as the most awesome, immense, mesmerising and capitvating experience of my life.

I am looking forward to Thursday. If it has just one of the big rocks come through like I saw in 1999, I will be most impressed. Seeing something travel from one side of the horizon to the other without burning out and seeing all the colours of the rainbow in the trail is something else.

I love this stuff.

Sounds likes its already kicked off then, further ups the chance of seeing something!

I remember going watching up Rivington last year, i had a picture with a few on, but i can't seem to find it. Everywhere round here suffers from dreadful light pollution.
