Curvy air filter modification - AKA snorkelectomy?

Has anyone got pictures of this process on a curvey?

tis' bollix, i did it and all it did was make it run leaner, like too lean

you also have to change jetting... even on 155DJ mains it wasn't perfect

Just cut the middle out of the filter, you don't really need pics to do it. Cut around the round trumpet thing.

Yes you need to rejet. Somewhere in region of 155 mikunis (much bigger than DJ mains!)

Thats the main reason I want to see how its done, mines running rich. More air = leaner being my reasoning, might get away without changing the jetting too much.
From what I've found so far it sounds like its not reversable on the curvy. Hence the see how its done and then decide how to handle the over richness.

EDIT: Cheers chris I have an old 'sacrificial' filter I'll give it a go. Check mixture with a colourtune? or is there a better way?

If it is rich you probably have a different problem like choke plungers. Modifications are NOT the way to cure faults!! you will chase your tail with jetting for f*cking months.

If the choke was still on wouldn't I have noticed an increase in fuel use? Getting 130-150 out of a tank.

The bike runs fine although its a little hesitant on full throttle from 3-4K and the exhaust is a sooty around the end of the can, plugs didn't look too bad when changed a few months ago.

I'll have a look at the plungers though, anything else to check whilst I'm looking?

Hesitation can be lean as well as rich. Rich generally feels soft and boggy

I've just done it to the race bike but with a K&N filter.

You need to move the needle to position three and you'll need either 155 or 157.5 mains.

Not sure what you'll need for the standard filter but this should be far away as the K&N is supposed to be more restrictive than stadnard.

I "cut" the hole by drilling lots of 3mm holes all round being careful not to hit the filter then taking it out with a stanley knife.
