Hi All,
Been a huge fan of streetfighters for a long long time, and now that ive crashed my Sport and ruined the fairings id like to fighter it.
Ive got/buying:
Headlight unit
Clip ons
Bar end mirrors
Black adjustable rearsets
Naked bungs
Belly Pan
Now i know how to fit all that and what not but my main issue is the spedometer.
Ive looked at a naked and it doesnt look like i would be able to use a bracket off that and i cant seem to find threads on what others have used at brackets and where theyve mounted them from.
Has anyone made a bracket or found one that works etc?
Hope you guys can help as youve never let me down before :)
Thanks in advance
Perry

Easiest way for you would be to get a naked sv top yoke then use the naked brackets and cover for the speedo. If you look on ron ayers (http://fiche.ronayers.com/) it will show you all the parts you need.
I couldn't use the naked yoke because I have gsxr forks so made a bracket from 5mm aluminium and basically copied the standard naked sv clock bracket, then mounted it under the yoke.

But then ill have the two renthal bar fixtures sticking out of the yoke wont i?
how did you mount ours inder the yoke? just drilled through?

ohhhh yeh you're keeping the clip ons. Forgot.
I've mounted it temporary using the ignition mounts (which means I can't put on the steering lock just now) but when I get my new 998cc yoke I will be using mounts on the bottom of that

can you fit the 998 yoke to standard sv650 forks or just the gsx conversion?
Fleabay isnt comeing up with any top yokes :/
If you used a naked yoke could you remove the bar clamps and fit rubber blanking grommets ?

I suppose i could.
Can actually find any named yokes at the moment.
and even if i did if have to find someone that has just the bracket and back for the pod

Yeh you get sv ones. Speedplay sold them on here a while ago I think. But you could just use the ignition mounts, if you mounted the bracket under the ignition, then used longer bolts. It's just a bit fiddle making the bracket because of the way it needs to go around the ignition.
Or yorkie chris said you could fill the standard yoke with liquid metal? then drill and tap it for mounts

Very confusing haha.
If Yorkie did drill and tap it , it would still need a custom bracket right? because of the ignition barrell?
Do you have any photos of how youve mounted yours from under the barrel ?
And how does it affect the lock ?

EAsiest way is to make some little brackets and mount them off the clipon locator bolts.

Street Fightering a Sport?
The usual process is crash it then have someone called Maz, Baz or Daz resurrect the remains with his Mole Grips and a lack of taste.
HTH.

Definition of a Streetfighter - a once perfectly good motorcycle that was lightly damaged and has since cost three times the original repair cost to create a worthless, foul handling, lashed up, ugly piece of crap.
I totally rebuilt my badly damaged (wedged it under a Honda Accord) SV650 K5S for 850 quid including buying a brand new fairing, you couldn't tell it had ever been dropped - by the time you've wasted money trying to fit badly made 'streetfighter' parts you'll have spent way more than it costs to repair the bike properly to standard condition. Fix it, then you could sell it and buy something that came 'fightered' from the factory.

Lozzo you're talking bollox, there's a lot of fine handling, well built "streetfighters" out there too, you'd just call them something else... maybe specials or customs or something.
You can't seriously tell me that you'd spend £850 on tupperware for a £1500 bike?

A 'Sport' is a 2007 onwards bike, value is far more than 1500 sheets. And if that's the case then yes, I would. My SV was valued at about 2800 when I shunted it, it cost 850 to repair and a year later I got 2800 back when I sold it. I'd initially scored on the insurance claim, but that's not the point, it was worth rebuilding and I wasn't riding round on a lash up.
There are some nicely engineered specials and streetfighters out there, but they are few and far between. This poster can't even work out how to make a simple pair of brackets to hold the clocks on, so how do you think the rest of the bike is going to look when he's done tinkering? I'll give you a clue, the only time the word 'Special' is going to be used is when his mum strokes his hair and straightens his shirt.
