View Full Version : Tea With Bin Laden's Brother
I promised a friend i would spread the word about his new book. He is a very talented illustrator and designer and keen on his bikes.
Unfortunately his wife passed away a few years ago and to move on decided he would complete this trip that they always said they'd do together. Starting in Bristol and ending in Nepal he covers a lot of ground and some amazing experiences too.

Also ordered. Don't usually purchase physical copies of books but the layout and style is intriguing, looks like something I'll leave lying around and endlessly flick through. Hope you're on commision dude!

Nah, i wish though. Just thought i'd try and help him out as i know how hard he's worked for it all.
He's really good at charicatures (sp) and you see a few through the book. I have one he's done of me somewhere on my desk. :)

Just finished reading it. I was suprised it didn't take that long, you can read this book in 2 hours, which isn't long I guess but I throughly enjoyed it.
It's more of a book written by someone who doesn't feel the need to dramatise absolutely everything, I guess as he was riding alone there wasn't any internal struggles to talk about. Although I think he could have elaborated on somethings but by no means does it detract from the book.
Illustrations are fun and break up/increase page count of the book however the positioning of them was sometimes strange. i.e. you would read illustrations and they would essentially tell you what was going to happen, or sometimes they would be illustrations from the page before and the page after.
I thought about this and tried to think whether I would prefer to have the illustrations after I had read about them or before I had read the literature. Couldn't really decide which would actually be better so I guess the auther may have had the same dilema and opted for what seem to be 50/50 half way through.
Apparently Simon is at the NEC bike show this week with his book.
So if you see him on a stand or something, be sure to tell him hello from Patrick if you're going, freak him out a little. :D
