Just done Andy Saxon's chain and front sprocket, I have been nice and explained exactly why I do things in a certain order, such as remove front sprocket first, using Andy sat on brake to hold back wheel and thus front sprocket whilst heaving on the nut.

Next we hit point of no return, grind off rivet head and push out old link and chain in bin.

General chat whilst supping on a beer, last people to replace his sprocket, lost one of the sprocket bolts and fit one "from a bandit". Well obviously the nut on it wasn't. Try as I might it just turned.

So we have two options, either I put it back with the old sprocket, or I grind off the stripped nut and he goes home minus a bolt. The old sprocket won out. Andy is to source a new sprocket bolt/nut and return for his new sprocket fitting.

So a grrrhhh at the people who buggered it up (I know who they are). But Why is it I do people a favour, and feel like I have let them down because of the action of others in the past.

What I need is a big box of oddball bits.

Oi Yorkie, do you need a home for some of your junk. It would have been nice to be able to root in a cupboard and come out with an SV sprocket bolt/nut and attacked his bike with the angle grinder.

I've a set of bolts going spare, but no nut. Let me know, although I'm away until Friday

He need at least a bolt & nut. and seems to think he knows where to source them for about a tenner for a complete set.

Yc has the opposite problem, correct bolts, thinking they will be seized solid, gets big breaker bar out so he can give it a great big heave ho, one Dizzy stood on pedal with fingers crossed, away we go.....only to have YC flung backwards down the garage od dooon, when it just fell off!!!!
