Hi all,

I've recently bought panniers and the PLX540 rack which comes with the following fitting instructions: http://www.givi.co.uk/attachfile/content/prodotti_regionali_uk/20935/0.0.1.man_plx540.pdf

The instructions looks mostly fine and I love doing this sort of thing anyway and am reasonably handy with tools, but I'm met a stumbling block right at the beginning, where it says "disassemble the support for the motorcycle plate". It doesn't say how to do that, and the owners manual isn't much more help. It gives instructions how to get to each of the bulbs, but they're pretty ambiguous saying things like 'unhooking the hooks' (bad English) with a diagram with various things highlighted that may or may not be hooks, and I don't even know if these instructions will remove the whole unit or just give me access to the bulbs.

I tried removing the screw underneath the unit, taking off the grab rails, and the rear plastic surround, and unclipping the indicator cables - but I still couldn't get the license plate unit to budge and I even broke a tiny (non critical) bit of plastic in the process by getting over-eager :-(

So is there anyone who can explain how to do this for me? Either with text or with pictures. I'd very much appreciate it! I need to use the panniers at the weekend and I'm away Thursday night so the only time I had to do this was tonight and tomorrow night, and tomorrow night I'm at the cinema later on so time is quite tight!

I have done a search both on the forum and on google but didn't come up with anything.

Thanks in advance,
Tox (Sarah)

If there were any bolts visible I would have removed them!

Through some inspired googling I have actually just found the following: http://www.rumbleconcept.com/products/pdfs/RU36624.pdf, and step 3 seems to be the breakthrough I needed. I previously wasn't sure how to get that panel off without breaking it, now I have and I've located some bolts. I'll do the rest tomorrow, too late now!
