Nice to know why but not sure that's very helpful.:(
Maybe if bikers know, then we can be more defensive(?).
Can you provide me with a summary...I've been reading cycling strategies for various districts all day so cannot be ar$ed to read another doc! :)

LBFTS - drivers Look But Fail To "See," i.e. the driver's brain doesn't recognise the risk.
There is also a section on coffin dodgers returning to biking after many years away. And a section on young riders who fail to perceive the risk of "spirited" riding.
Filtering also gets a mention, i.e. again, drivers don't consider a biker may be filtering. The driver's brain doesn't recognise the risk.

Nice...saves me reading time! ;)
As expected then...we should assume we're invisible to drivers effectively.

Quite interesting to skim through and generally points out the obvious about common accidents in different situations.
But will anything come of it .....probably not.
[Edit]

Very interesting.
Read page 14 and apply that thought to your road positioning.

That one has been mentioned to me about the Camo effect. The joys of the typical car driver: sees car, doesn't see bike as it is smaller than car or sees it and thinks its a long distance away as lights are small.
It does give food for thought, when its demonstrated

I will read it when I am not so tired but it certainly doesn't surprise me.
Bloody hell I can drive around with flashing blue lights and sirens and people don't notice me!!

You get used to it, but it does stick in my mind when I am on the bike that if they can't see the blue lights then how are they gonna see a bike?

It'll get worse when the EU (scam U) enforces the mandatory on side lights for new cars.
