If you have to ask what unboxing video's are, you're clearly not a geek - or - not the geek you thought you were ;) I've just received my new bullet cam and recorder earlier today so been faffing around with it. Decided to put together a little review to show what you get in the box and an on-the-fly comparison to my old gear, along with my only criticism (it records in AVI format which can't be opened in adobe premiere cs3 on a mac)..

Feel a bit of a berk but reckon it'll be of interest to other people who are looking to purchase some kind of bullet cam setup...

Anyone else done this before or am I officially promoted from 'geek' to 'ner ner ner nerrr NERD'?

Never done one but they are bloody handy. So if there isn't one already, I say go for it :smt045

You're not moved to Nerd yet... you're turning into what I'd call a 'Pro-active Geek' as opposed to a standard geek :p lol

Never heard of one but just did a search for unboxing ps3 and just watched 2 minutes of some duche letting me know what comes in the box.

A power cable....'No **** really?'
A video RCA cable....'I wondered how I was gunna watch it'
And a PS3.....'Well **** me, would you believe it'

LOL it's good for random stuff like my new camera - however I neglected to mention that the box includes a 'lens removal tool' which is like a 1-2mm allen key, but the grub screw holding the lens actually has a flat head notch in it...

The generic ones for iPhones and ps3's = ghey though :)

Well Paul, i have watched it and decided i want one of the HD cams as i have standard dog cam2 and the quality looks a lot better even on youtube.
I also think you need to get out more ;)

I was thinking about a new hobby like staring at springer spaniels tbh

youtube has absolutely castrated the quality of the original file - no where near HD but much better than youtube has shrunk it down to. You never know, if I can afford it I'll go for a ContourHD in about 6 months if they're any cheaper (heard a rumour from a guy in the industry that a new HD action camera is coming out which will blow the goProHD and contourHD out of the water allegedly)..

Dont stare at springers, it gets boring after a bit ;)

Youtube and photobucket destroys the quality of my vids, they look fine on my pc, then look blocky and crap when i post them, your one looked a big improvement though.

Can't believe you tested it on the car

And your box review wasn't very thorough. I want to see more detail and for you to explain every single button and component.

Was tempted to do a road wars parody - best scally manchester media type accent "look at this guy in an audi... what a donut"

the top button is play,
2nd button is rewind and/or volume down
3rd button is fast forward or volume up
4th button is record.

that's about it lol. Camera is waterproof, recorder isn't as there's too many usb ports/microSD card slots/orifices for water to get in and do the damage..

The ContourHD 1080 is an awesome camera mate , I have one and think it is superb for the dosh . You need a fairly beefy system to edit 1080 footage though , all my stuff was shot in Standard mode and has been of excellent quality :)

well my iMac is reasonably beef but only has 1gb ram (it's only flaw).. As soon as I can afford an upgrade to 8gb I'll be pulling its bits apart and ramming some memory in the slots
