Just had a phone call from India (well she sounded like an Indian call centre). She identified herself as being from my card company.
Can I speak to Timothy Wilkinson

For security purposes can you please give me your date of birth.
For security purposes can you please give me my date of birth, memorable place and mothers maiden name.
I am sorry we are not allowed to give those out.
Isn't that a co incidence I don't give them out either. Bye.
I don't care if she is from my card company or not. What fool gives out personal information to anonymous callers?
So if she was genuine, is my card going to work next time. If she wasn't how the feck have they got my mobile and know which card company I use?
You did the right thing.
My bank (Abbey/Santander) and CC company (MBNA) specifically say that they will never ask for the information that you were asked for.
As for the mobile number and card company..... pure coincidence? Probably not, but their rep needs some training.

I read the title and though you had become so old, you had gone all the way around and had started again!
PS, what is your sort code and bank account number?
Pete ;)
When my card got cloned i had 2 calls
One on the home phone and one on my mobile, both calls i missed due to being out and they left a message, cant remember exactly how it went but i didnt ring the number that i was told to ring and contacted my bank direct, saying that i had recieved a phone call from the fruad squad, they confirmed this and then transfered me through, i also remember another time recieving a phone call asking for my personal details, to which i just asked for their name, extension number and the reason they was calling then found the companies contact number in my paperwork and phoned them back, i would suggest ringing your card company and just asking if they have tried contacting you today and maybe explain what happened

I had calls like this a while ago and it scared the hell out of me. In the end I got letter from my bank telling me that they had tried to contact me, but I had refused to give security details. My Bank had been split and taken over by MBNA & Santander and neither were talking to each other. I was less than impressed and would not recommend either bank to anyone!
I miss the Alliance & Leicester, they treated me very well and I was impressed by them until they became Santander, who appear to be vile!

Punch the number (or any dodgy caller's number) into the search box and see what comes up...
I had an odd one the other day, supposedly from the RAC. I told them to e-mail me, they (the true RAC) have my e-mail address. He (Scottish accent) said it's a "phone only" offer and wanted details from me. I'll pass thanks.
