View Full Version : Value of FSH
Took my bike to Speedwell motorcycles this weekend for it's 15,000 mile service.
It was well priced, but what is the value of keeping FSH? I plan on keeping the bike for a while yet.

after this one do the rest yourself. By the time bike gets to 30k and over a few years old it will be worth sub £2k and then saving a few hundred quid will be money back in your pocket.
personally when i look for a bike i would prefer to have a full service history with it, it shows the bike has been looked after properly, (hopefully). it doesn't take much to keep the documents and may persuade someone to buy it in the future.

a reasonable history (I.E proof of buying oil + filter at reasonable intervals) seems fair enough

or alternatively ask the garage if you can do as much of the work yourself and then take it in for the more complicated/bigger stuff - I bought my oil, filter, coolant and various bits from york suzuki, took all my bodywork off, did the oil/filter/coolant changes, then took the bike to them (still with bodywork off) so they could balance throttle bodies and have a look at valve clearances... Save a couple hundred quid in labour and they were happy to tick the box to say that the work had been done :)

Not a bad plan that, I know FSH makes a bike more sellable if not more valuable. I think it depends a lot on the bike itself. If I was spending megabucks then I would want it, if only a few pennies you buy condition rather than anything else. At least that's what I find.
