Hi,
I know this should be in suspenion but it takes ages to get a reply so I thought i'd put it in here (sorry) anyway I can't remember what to adjust if the rear end squats on hard acceleration, so what do you adjust?
Cheers guys.
Preload. Softer, More squat. Harder, less squat.

We have a suspension section? I asked for one ages ago, but can't see it anywhere...

Preload =/= softer or harder
Only change you making there is swingarm angle which will change anti-squat fraction. Maybe improve it but you can't do much with it without getting into topping out issues (especially on the very low standard SV chassis, which is why good shocks for the curvy are such a huge amount longer)
Why do you want to reduce rear end squat? Is it making you run wide on exit or what? Try a bit more comp.
Anyway, some rear end squat is actually desireable, if you change swingarm angle to point where you eliminate rear squat the handling feels VERY odd.
depends. if its a standard sv shocky or a fully adjustable aftermarket.
if its a standard SV then there is nowt you can do.
if its an aftermarket then its compression you want to make slower (harder) (usually the slow side).
preload is just that it 'preloads' the spring for the rider/bike sag. turning it up or down wont make a bit of difference apart from the ride hight.

Is the rear preload the nut at the bottoe of the rear spring?
preload is usually the large nut at the top surrounding the body of the shokky.

No... Bibio is right, the nut at the bottom generally does something else.
Small hint, what bike you're on about is a f*ckin MASSIVE help!!!

Rear squats? More compression damping.
Preload not the right thing to change this, it may reduce overall travel but only if you were running out of travel before, (in this circumstance).
I was presuming it was an SV.
If its a fancy shock its the low speed compression.

...for a lard **** on an SV, I'm one notch from max preload. Sound about right?
