Hi, I have a request for some kind person out there to take a couple of pictures of their blue Sport with the stripe down it. I really wanted a blue K9 but got an absolute bargain on a black sport and fancying get a set cut in silver.

So I am looking to get a set of stripes cut by my local supplier but they need some photos to copy. So if somebody could be kind enough to take photo's of the front fairing, tank from above and the rear seat cowl? and post them on here?

If successful, maybe able to get them to produce sets and make availble to others! :D

I haven't taken any of the stripes purposefully....but this thread may help...it was when my bike looked clean! :(

You could always ask Irksy (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=155309&highlight=stripe+irksy) :)

Cheers TazDaz. That was just what I was after. :D

Next request - does anybody fancy running a ruler over them stripes and telling me how wide the side stripes are and how wide the gap between side stripes and centre wide stripe is?

And if you are feeling really kind, sizes of the main stripe from filler cap to seat? Just measurements at the widest part and at the point where it meets the seat?

I know this is a lot to ask but trying to get them right first time, :)

Pop down to your local dealer and take a ruler with you :D

Hmmmmm, silver stripes would look nice, but how about......satin black stripes?

SUBTLE is the key!! ;)

Isn't the black already classed as "satin-ish"? That was be pointless! :)

I'll have a look with a ruler over the weekend and get back to you SIII.

The black Sports I have seen are Shiney, not Satin.

But, if, and it's unlikely that I am, wrong :D they are a Satin finish, then Shiney black stripes would look good too!!

I thought satin was shiney?

Cheers Taz,

K9 Nebular black is definitely not satin. Mine's very, very very shiny at the mo. Can't ride yet as on a 60 plate and have to wait till wednesday:smt013

All I can do is go out, polish and look! is killing me:(

Satin is 1/2 way between shiny and matt.:smt120

I would say the finish on the swingarm is satin.

Bah I'm thinking gloss...grr. I stand corrected. I'll get the measurements tomorrow afternoon.

Yes, frame/swingarm satin, bodywork shiney black with an extremely subtle metalic with blue fleck, LOVELY colour!

Just for reference, pearl nebular black has 3 colours of fleck in the paint apparently, not just blue, my dealer told me this btw.

Springholm, just outside Castle Douglas. Does wild west refer to South West Scotland?

Yep...Newton Stewart to be precise...

Right, finally managed to get some measurements and better photographs - although they were taken on the phone! I've only got the stripe widths, as you can easily get the lengths yourself, and I didn't have a long enough bender ruler. (oo eerrr!) ;)

The side stripes are consistantly 9mm wide, and set 18mm off of the main stripe to each side. I measured 17mm, but for ease I reckon it should be just double the side stripe width.

main stripe: 16mm at bottom; 95mm at top.

main stripe, in front of filler cap: 62mm at front; 92 at rear (next to filler cap).
main stripe, behind filler cap: 102mm at front (next to filler cap); 49 at rear (near testicles).

Cowl / Rear

main stripe on cowl at front (faded bit) 68mm; rear bit on the cowl: 60mm.
main stripe on rear at front: 56mm; rear bit (covered by my rack in the pic): 40mm.

I know I've done quite a poor job at this, but hope it helps a little bit at least. :)

Fantastic job, thanks a lot, TazDaz.:D

I have the same model bike as you in black also. I am definately interested in getting some of these for my bike. Let me know when you get a price and I will order some also. It may even help bring the price down.

Might be an idea to get the decal producer to log onto this site and show him the this post. He doesn't have to be a member. It amazing how much gets lost in translation when trying to explain something like this.

If you're adding them post-factory then you might as well get something original done, seeing as you're going through all that effort anyway.

Yeah, but I like the factory look,
