View Full Version : Floppy mirrors - Pointy.

Does anyone else suffer from this debilitating condition!?

I have to tuck my mirrors in to get the bike in and out of the house each day and now my mirrors are very reluctant to tighten up at all. They get pushed back to the fairing at anything over 30mph most times and are now as good as useless. The LHS one has given up completely and the bolt now just spins and spins and spins when you try to tighten it up. Im hoping to get just a new base, but I reckon I'll have to buy the whole mirror :(

Can you not re-thread the bolt hole and/or get new bolts?

I used too yes, I just tighted them right up but obiously this wont work for you.
Do a dave numbers and keep an allan key in your wallet or attached to your gate posts.

Always got the toolkit with me, but its all a bit useless - as I explained in my OP, the LHS one just spins and spins and spins. I could spend and hour with the allan key and not tighten it up

Are the mirrors on them really that much different?? Its a pointy anyway.

Can you not re-thread the bolt hole and/or get new bolts?

Could I just get new bigger allan bolts and thread it that way? How else would I go about re-threading the bolt hole?

i had same problem with lhs, i just tightened it up and only brought the right one in, and leant right over to get it out the alleyway at my house. its a faff but saves all the hassle of FMS (floppy mirror syndrome)

Yes! Curvy mirrors have a hinge that allows them to be folded and put back without any of the hassle that you get when you fold pointy mirrors!!

We have one of each in the household and the earlier design is much better in terms of folding....

OP, sorry didnt read correctly the bit about the bolt been de-threaded.
I have a spare set of pointy mirrors if you're interested £15 posted.
