It has now been confirmed the device was viable. An 8 yr old boy found it. 8 yr old. He picked it up and took it to a teacher.

Seriously, was that meant to be a joke??? Bomb threats also made to other Primary schools in the area.

Thank God that little boy showed his teacher that bomb. It doesn't bear thinking about had he not found it and it had detonated. Disgusted.

Its always been the same over there. I remember when the Holy cross school epic started. oh that was a fun summer on the streets :) decended into so fantastic rioting towards the end of the summer and into winter.

mbk calm down
tbh its nothing new ,you would have a coronary if i was to tell you some of the places i had to defuse ied's, personally i thought it was funny (the joke) and i have 29 years of dealing with it, yes its sad but thats how it is and if ya didnt laugh about it ni would eat you up

i understand why it would upset you but the worst didnt happen, and as said before unfortunately this isnt new or strange

so yes be concerned, hate the people responcible, but relax when people take the mick, about (and this is how most from back home think of it) a non event, harsh but true

hope that makes sence

Dave, I don't care if they all want to blow themselves up, but i just can't see the funny side of it when it is brought into a primary school where there are innocent children.

Just highlights the fact that things really aren't as rosy over there as the press would have you believe.

press dont make it sound rosy they just dont report it, call it omission of vilolence , its never stopped
tbh its just been a slow press week ,cos this is and im not joking actually quite a regular thing

to be fair, Dave is right... it's not a new thing, and i doubt you'll find anybody over here in N.I. who is surprised/shocked by this.

yes people will be angry cuz it is a disgrace, but the worst didn't happen, and that's the bottom line...

thats just how Northern Ireland rolls....

If there was a bomb planted in any school in the US...
You would be lucky to elude athorities more more than a few days.
And you and everyone who helped, aided, or was in contact with you near the time, would be spending the rest of their lives in prison.
If you're lucky enough to be in a state without the death penelty. ;)
Your chances of not being caught. 0%

These days the government has the technology and the might to put this kind of crime to an end but like the media turns a blind eye.
School bombings are as cowardice as one can get.
It's never going to stop until until the guilty start being held accountable for their crimes.
But to call for reform there might well be the end of one's political career, so it's just not talked about.
Expect more of the same until the day it gets so bad the government has to step in again, at which point it will be a much bigger battle to fight.

I'll get my coat...
