for those of you who have tattoos, what part of the body was most painful, I dont want to know about rude bits. Thinking about getting another tat on the top of my foot. Have heard that it is quite painful there. I have fat feet so cant see that it will be that bad.

I have fat feet
I think anywhere where there's not much between the skin and the bone will be painful... you watch Miami Ink and the stuff some people go through to get their stuff done, yowch!

I reckon having one on your ******** might hurt the most :)
Top of foot isnt as painful as the tummy apparently, more nerve endings in the tummy area.
Dont forget to show us pics when you have it done.

I'm told the spine hurts...haven't got any myself though.
I'm told the spine hurts...haven't got any myself though.
Spin doesnt hurt as much as you might think.
mine on the base of my spine really hurt compared to the one on my neck and shoulder which I didn't really feel them.
It depends on how high your pain threshold is (and you have had children, so must be high) ;)
The closer the bone is to the skin the more it will hurt, I think your foot would be ok, if you stay away from your ankle

My foot wasnt too bad but I did keep having twitches while being inked and kept kicking Ian, my tattooer.
Back, spine, shoulder blade tattoo was fine, but got painful near the ribs.
Thigh, behind ears, back of neck and hip didnt hurt.
Forearm was fine but sore at the wrist and elbow.

I have base of back, across spine, on the inside of my wrist across tendons and one on the right hand side of my stomach. The sorest was by FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR my belly! I got cramp in my foot because of the pain!! The others were stingy but sufferable.
It depends on how high your pain threshold is (and you have had children, so must be high) ;)
dont think they will give me gas and air for tat though ;)
My one that goes along the top of my foot was fine for the first hour (was more painful than my wrist by a fair bit though). As they get closer to the ankle it gets more painful but it's still bearable. Go for it, you can always ask them to stop and go back in a few days if it gets too bad :)
But nobody can see tattoos on the top of your foot, so why bother?

Since then she's had some more added, like a full sleeve on the right arm and some gaps filled in on her sides and back. After it was all finished she said it gets to a point where the needles just tingle a bit and she's so relaxed she can fall asleep during long sessions
Just to add, on top of the foot the ink does tend to wear quicker then anywhere else, it fades quicker and you might need to re-do in a few years time.

If you want to be well hard, have the tattoo done on the underside of the foot.
Only well hard people have it done there, cause its so painful, if you can suffer the torture of one foot, you get the other one done for free...if you dare!
Well you do in our studios up ere!

KK can't bear anyone going anywhere near the soles of her feet far less go near them with a needle ;)
bottom of the foot like DB said is painful, as is your ribs, also on your elbow, i seen an 18stone brick outhouse cry like a little girl gettin a rose tatoo'ed on his elbow
my little sis got one on top of her foot she said it was fine, but then according to your avatar, you are a southern poof;)

That back piece is stunning.
That is what I am aiming for. Got cherry blossoms from my left shoulder to my right buttock, going to get a koi from my ribs onto my back.

my wee sis had one on her foot and one on her ribs a week later and said the foot was a breeze compared with the ribs, i didn't listen and had a rib piece done not long after. Outline wasn't too bad, but after a short break the shading (normally much easier) was excruciating!

Give it a few years and those tats will have slipped down to your @rse. You'll probably have room for them on there too.

Just seen this thread...
Not sure how I missed it to be honest.
I've had my back, chest, ribs and arms done with no real pain.
My armpit hurt like hell though and have had both the front and back of my elbow done earlier today.
AVOID the elbow!!!!
I've never known pain like it :(
End product was worth it though :)

i dont have a current pic of it but it now extends about another 7/8 inches down my back! Worst part was going around the back of my arm onto the real fleshy bit!!
Shoulder blades and the insides of my upper arms hurt more than the other ones I had done - although I now have 11 done and am looking for a sleeve on my lower left arm, so it hasn't put me off anyway!

Seems I must be the only person with unmutilated skin.
Ladies, just think what it will be like in 50 years when they are wiping your backside in the nursing home. Some young girl just out of school with 3 degrees and a phd in having gone to school (P take on grade inflation and degree devaluation) will have to hold open the folds of skin to see what you had done when you were young and stupid and say.
Oh it is a tattoo!, I thought it was a piece of toilet tissue stuck to you

Your young, a lot longer than your old ;)
After my dad died, and sorting out all his things and money I realised that nothing is more worth having than experience and friends.
Sod what it looks like in 50 years time, live for the here and now.
A tattoo really is the only thing that you can take with you when you die.
Rule of thumb tends to be where ever the bone is closest to the skin is where it hurts the most.
Top of the shoulder, elbow, lower back, ankle, neck, collarbone.
People have different levels of pain endurance so some will find it not as painful in a particular area as someone else.

I have 3, one on the base of my spine, one on the underside of my wrist and the recent one on my ankle and lower leg.
Out of all, the one on my ankle hurt the most, it just hurt around the back of the ankle and where he went over the bone. The other two paw prints were much easier as they were fleshier. I wouldn't personally get one any lower down my foot than where i have it. The one on my back just felt like burning, but wasn't unbearable, and the one on my wrist didn't hurt at all.
Mine are all small, even the largest one i have is 3 individual tattoos which will get expanded as we get more dogs (2 new pups hopefully next year!!).

Collar bones were a bit nippy, but the 3 hours tattooing right in the middle of my armpit took the biscuit, I'd describe it more as torture than pain!
Inner bicep is also a bit ouchy, everwhere else on arms and legs I found ok.
Was expecting the elbow to be a bit of a killer but it wasnt too bad at all. Top of the foot I didnt find that bad.
Beleive it or not the inside of my lip was by far the least painful tattoo I've had!
