Hmm had a bit of a fallout with a guy from orange mobile, which is a shame. However i'm now looking for a new phone to replace my, FRANKLY BRILLIANT, n85. im thinking about an android phone as everyone i see (bar paul) with an iphone is a tawt. Im thinking of this desire thingy or one of these galaxy s's ? any tips advice etc? its going to cost me so at the mo the galaxy s is 50 quid more than the desire. Surely a phone cant be that good? can it?

The samsung Wave is pretty good as well. Its really a smaller Galaxy S. Only plyed with it so dont know long term but one of the geekettes has one and rates it over her old Nokia.

Orange and T-mobile are/have merged and are going to start allowing customers to roam between networks for no charge, same call costs etc making a massive network.

On the phone front. HTC Touch is supposed to be a great phone...

You say you've fallen out with them... is it just like a bit of a tiff or have you actually split up?

(seriously consider the iPhone mate, asside from all the apple bashing and people banging on about the antenna issue ((I've had 3g signal in areas where I never even had edge with my old iPhone!)) they're cracking phones and sport the biggest choice of applications you could want from keeping fit to MCN data logger to track your speeds/acceleration/deceleration, loads of stuff... go play with one in o2 at white rose, they'll happily talk you through all the features)

to be honest i would like an i phone but its going to cost me 250 quid really. and thats about 300 quid than i currently have.

so i can stretch to an android one, just!

only problem i have is the current phone has a fault where if your calling it from a landline the speaker booms (like too much gain on the line) everything else is fine. I called to get a replacement and they said because its intermittent its not classed as a fault! A bit peved i said i would like to claim off my insurance because it was broken and they said well atually you cant! So i said well its broken just how broken does it need to be? do i have to take a hammer to it? The guy said well ive recoreded that on your account so you cant claim for any damage to your phone now! Great!! The last thing is orange is the only company i can get a signal with in reeth where i go a lot! so i cant decide what to do. :(

have you thought about a crackberry? i know people moan about them, but they're on pretty affordable plans now which great extras, and they do everything it ever claimed to to. its no iphone but i really like mine. I got mine on a 2 year contract and i'm 18months into that now and ive not really had a problem. i (touch wood) see no reason why it wont last for at least another 6 months until i decide to upgrade or not.

lots of people claim they've had problems with bbs, or iphones or HTC phones and to be honest, i tihnk a lot of it comes down to the actual individual handset as i also know a lot of people who have never really had a problem with their bbs/iphone/HTC

HOpe this makes sense as i;ve had a little bit too much! lol

My iphone was free. All I pay is the fee for the monthly contract.

Its not an Iphone 4, or a 3GS, its just a plain basic 3G, if you dont want the latest all singing all dancing phone, there are bargins to be had.

You can still get a 3G? Cos I'm due an upgrade and I'd go for that. Wouldn't want to sign up for 24 months or a stupid months amount tho...

you proabably have to, its getting increasinly hard to get a 18month contract now, let alone a 12 month one

Christ. Last phones just kicked the bucket, and I'm not 15 months through yet. Got to wait another 2 weeks before they'll even think about letting me upgrade.

I don't think I abuse my phones that much....Just don't think they're made to last.

If you can manage to get past the assumption that all iPhone users are ****s... like me... ish.

Just think, Samsung release all these phones aswell as Nokia, Ericsson etc etc etc but iPhone release a phone once every year or two. Its so easy to update and fix iPhone and therefore they hold their money.

Two weeks ago I took my battered up old 8gb (basic) 3G in to carphone warehouse and they bought it off me for £115. Therefore it cost me just £4 to buy my iPhone 4 at £119 on a £35 per month contract 24 months. I didnt want a 24 month contract but... I can take my phone back in a years time (the length of contract I wanted) and the phone will be worth around £300 still which will buy me out and then back in to a new contract if I wish.

Got a bit lost with where I was going... (i've had a couple of beers) but nokia and all the others are worth jack all in the same amount of time. iPhones are great, and you should invest!

n85 is worth 90 quid to mazooma or whatever its called so it is worth something i think.

Its just the cost thats the prohibitive factor.

It would appear not, but you can by the looks of it get a 3GS still. I would imagine they'll cut you a deal on that, why not enquire and see what they say.

18 months looks to be the shortest contract you'll get though unless you get PAYG.

I have just (3 weeks ago) taken delivery of a 16gb 3GS, i had to pay £89 as well as my £35 per month contract as they didnt have any 8gb phones which would have been free.

Dont bother btw, they are crap, mine has already been replaced, keep getting no service, bloody annoying.

My wife recently got a wave, like you say its good to play with but battery life is shocking if used a lot. She has had a replacement sent free but its just as bad. 2 days max before flat. My nokia lasted almost 2 week in greece with fairly low use!

I fell out with about 4 people on Orange, finally got one that talked sense and had people skills and got a Dolphin 35 contract for £22.50 a month, 800 mins talktime, unlimited texts, unlimited data but the Desire cost me £55.

Worth ringing and getting different people. One person said they could do that package for £35, with 500mb data and the phone was out of stock, I got put through to disconnections and hey presto .... got what I want and the phone was in stock :/

Altho I hate the phone at the mo, still trying to get used to it.
