oh this might be why
We apologise to the innocent members caught up in this situation, but matters had to be taken in hand.
Despite the request made on Saturday evening to leave matters alone, some did still push the boundaries and as a result the site was shut off as promised.
A few of you may have spotted the double entendre posting (now deleted) that kicked off in the backyard late Saturday night. The member in question had nothing to do with the matter in hand, yet pushed his luck with a needless and provocative post. He is one lucky chap to still be a member. I will not reveal his identity, but advise that neither he nor anyone else pushes their luck again.
We don't tolerate personal attacks on the site, not even sleight of hand ones. It either runs as a friendly site - or it can be taken down altogether. Where it goes from here is ultimately up to you guys, but it is important for me to stress that there is no way that any mods or admin are gonna be intimidated, abused and criticised for doing the best job they can, as has been the case in the last 48 hours.
Some of the abuse that has been flying around both on and off the forum is nothing short of atrocious. It must stop.
This place takes a lot of running and a lot of maintainance, that means a lot of time and work done in the background. No-one is asking for thanks for that - but neither is any of us gonna stand to be fired off at - particularly when the full facts are not known by the shooters.
So I suggest we all just move on and get back to normal quickly please - unless you prefer the site taking down permanently.
That is not an idle threat.
The site will go live again on Monday morning at 9.00 am.
Thank you for reading this and apologies if you are an innocent victim of the situation

Quick, delete that before Fizz gets the chance to see it! LOL
So many of the guys on there are complete knobs. Both riding and posting.
There are only a few decent guys on there, that i´ve come across anyway.
Does not surprise me. Stick to this place, me. :)

There are quite a few orgers who also happen to be junkies as well. It is natural progression. But for some of us, we cannot leave our old habits alone.
I got that message too this morning (only joined when I was getting a ss600), so what happened?

Guilty, but only use it for a technical resource. Drastic action for an admin to take though to totally shut the site down.

I may own a GSXR600, but you will never catch me on a gixxer forum.
I like this forum, don't need an idiot forum.
Ste.
There is quite a few forums that are full of complete nutcases...visordown being another one of them.
Its just a constant abuse and swear fest on the forum and when they do go out for rides someone will always fall off because they do 1500 miles a year and are not used to it.

Not 100% sure but been having a little read. Looks like somebody threatened one of the site admins from what I can tell so they shut the site down.
Fizz if you dont do what we want, we'll pull your hair and call you names....oh hang on, Liz does that already ;)

Yeah it's a bag of sh*t on there. The 'new posts' link just reveals a long list of trackday dates with one or two obnoxious posts like "£60 fine from the pigs" or "I've nearly died more times than you've nearly died so f*** off"...
Admittedly the tech centre has been very useful, just a shame the community isn't as helpful/laid back as the org...

I think i´ve been on three Junkies rides.

My bike is nearly fixed now though so hopefully they'll invite me along again before the end of the riding season

D!ck.
Perhaps makes some of the mod decisions on this site look more reasonable, eh?

I think they are in a difficult place. Seems like somebody has threatened one or two of the admin team via PM and also via text message as well. Not sure how amused I would be if that happened to me, but then thats why I am very careful about who I give my phone number out to.
Oh very much agreed Fizz.
I was referring to how many people like the modded feel of this site in terms of language and overall style more than anything else. You know, the style that sometime results in accusations of 'over-modding' ;)

Wthout ass kissing too much, apart from the rather annoying thread title changes, this site is well run.
Having looked on other forums and the crap on there, I actually think most people on here appreciate the swear filter and the way it's run.
The proof is in the pudding as well cos even when the sv is sold we still hang around, also look how many members are online at peak times compared to other sites.
I'll put my brown tongue away now.

^+1 I find the thread title changes pretty irritating but other than that from my short experience of this site I don't have any problem with the modding.
I know how difficult it can be as I mod on a couple of other sites, one bike related and one not.

People, can I suggest if you have an issue on a site, discuss it on that site.
This is the org. Not the junkies. How would you lot like them to start posting inappropriate comments about us. If you have constructive comments about the junkies let them have them. If not keep your opinions to yourself.

Don't you just hate it when the mods feel the need to step in a ruin a conversation...never happens on the Junkies forum:D

I agree, and for those that dont like how its run they seem to disappear and lerk in the background like the saddos they are :)
We have had our trouble makers, we all know who they were and without such people the org is a happier place, well modded and well run !!
Fankoo mods and admin ..... go on tell me to feck off now LOL

Hey,I am not a mod. But I like many others here are also a member of the Junkies as well. To the best of my knowledge they have never slagged off the org saying it is **** etc. Why should we make inappropriate comments about their site?
The last thing we need is for someone to feel provoked and the trolling will start.

I'm not on the junkies much, but they've always been helpful when I've been after advice or parts
One thing I think we should copy from them is get a suzuki site sponsor that can give us discounts.

No, I have a serious disagreement with that.
That's worth another thread in itself.

Surely there are already enough people on here to source parts that you wouldn't need to look far for anything you need at a reasonable price? I agree with YC (I know, amazing innit) sponsor free means freedom of speech.

It's just handy for getting new oem bits and getting quotes for stuff. I've no idea if any freedom of speech stuff happens on the gixer site though?

I dont know. I'm starting to feel uncomfortable now about discussing how another site is run in this manner. Alot of us are members of both sites. Obviously the guys over there have had a massive problem and are attempting to sort things out, best leave them to it I feel.
