Theres a similar one on the Humber Bridge...
it says (as you approach) Speed limit 30mph... Your Speed XX
Now what infantile minded biker would try to get the maximum speed on the "Your Speed" display?

The normal 30mph street lamp mounted UK ones top out at 56mph or so...

Didn't they have to replace some with just a happy or sad face after chavs were going and trying to see how fast they could get it to display?

not seen them over here, but I've seen the happy/sad ones in france/swiss boarder region.
theres one in erdington a really long straight road, ive seen a lad go through at roughly 80mph and it stayed blank, i went through at 35 *on speedo* and it said 39mph.

they got them on the isle of man as well I think? Going into kirk michael or ballaugh if I remember rightly
yeah they have the happy/sad faced ones on Isle of Man, better than the 'show ya speed' ones.

There's one on the approach to my old primary school in a 20 zone that is clearly capable of displaying 3 digits! Surely that's just there as a challenge...

They generally read the same amount as my sat nav, but about 3-4 mph higher than my indicated speed form the dash, no difference on what im driving or riding, it reads the same amount.
I do see them as a challenge in some places :)
