After months or battling with parcel force and plenty of to'ing and fro'ing and much frustration on my part, they have finally given in and posted me a cheque to cover the loss of my front end I shipped to Ireland back in april!

The box weighed 29kgs and was 1m x .6m x .5m so I have
no idea how they managed to lose it in the first place!

Drinks all round yeay me :)

Glad to hear you got your money from them.

You'd be surprised what can be lost by a courier, Securicor Omega managed to lose a complete SV650 engine that was strapped to a half size pallet. It was missing for several days before they found it again and then they delivered it to the wrong house!!!!!

Makes you wonder doesn't it? I paid £74 in total for the shipping, and when I phoned them they said, oh sorry the service you selected doesn't require us to get a signature from the person who accepts the parcel...wtf?

You'd be surprised how busy he might be. I've done the multi drop and used to have anything upto 100 pick ups and deliveries a day to do and could only get them all done by working at least 12 hours a day. The courier companies really extract the urine with the work loads they put on the vans so maybe cut the driver some slack eh.

Uh oh, is that someones toes firmly stepped on? Just sounds a bit rediculas at face value, taking 3 days to empty a transit van I didn't even know it was the same van doing the pic ups too tbh. My bad

I've done the multidrop van work too many a time, and its extremely stressfull, not including the collections you have to do. If you didn't do all your drops (I once had 5 A4 pages of deliveries...:smt013:smt013). That day was around 98 drops, 12 pickups, and I had started at 5am.. not getting finished until 7:30pm at night. Some drops I had to miss out, and I got a bollocking for it. I told him the workload was ridiculous, and to stick his agency job up his backside..People don't realise the distances these guys drive dailly.. its scary... and you've to cover 10 miles in 8 minutes to keep on your schedule...

I had been going all day nonstop with no breaks whatsover, so give the couriers a break... its not their fault the bosses want blood out of a stone when it comes to workload...

I don't do multi drop anymore but people need to realise that they aren't that couriers only delivery/pick up that day. More deliveries get added on every day so it's not really a case of taking 3 days to empty a van. It just kind of snowballs through the week I.e Monday you have 80 deliveries but only get 70 done so Tuesday you have another 80 plus the 10 from the previous day but then only get 80 done so the 10 left het carried over to the next day and so on till you get a quieter day to catch up on it all.
And each time you miss a delivery or collection you get grief from your boss and them from the customer cos you're late!

i did multi drop on leave once , bloke screamed down the phone once ,i let it slide, nloke screamed twice , i turned the van round asked him of he would like to try it again while i was standing infront of him, he ran out of the office another bloke came in, apologised to me and asked me to go back out, at which point i laughed handed him the keys and told him his van was parked on the hard shoulder of the m6 got back in my mates car and went to the pub (van was towed by plod and not cheap to get out lol)

bunch of shisters ran it and tbh other mates tell me most companies are the same but they sure as hell wernt expecting someone to stand up to them :) , now im courtious to all delivery men

As dave says always be nice to your delivery driver as next time he's running late and can't do all his deliveries he'll remember the people that gave him grief last time and think stuff you, you can wait. ;-)

Does the area which they deliver to make a difference? I've never had a late delivery nor a parcel lost on its way to me "touch wood" but I just wonder if thats because there are a number of depot's all within a couple of miles from where I live. I think of all the major delivery companies the furthest depot is DHL and thats only 6 mile from home.
Parcel Force x 2, Royal Mail x 2, Home Delivery Network, all within a couple of miles then like I say DHL is is about 6miles.
