I will be needing some new tyres on the sv soon.

What do you suggest I get.

I use the bike for commuting and social use on my days off.

Thanks :)

What he said! Although I've got now superseded BT 021s on my ZX9r and they're good too.

i would stay away from bt021's, i'm also after new tyres and will not be fitting these again, as they don't seem to cope very well in the wet!!

I would steer clear from 021's as well, infact any Bridgestones for me

I recommened Michelin Pilot Road 2's, but have a quick read round in the tyre section as well

I'm really impressed with the Maxxis Sports I have on atm. IMO they are better than 021's wet or dry in terms of grip.

For the money I don't think you can go wrong with these. Checkout DK Motorcycles for prices.

Good morning all.

As said Avon Storms. We fit a lot of these to SV's & they suit the SV to a T, Wet or dry.

However, Michelin Pilot Road 2's are very good, & I'm hearing some good things about Bridgestone BT 023's wet weather performance. (Which is a surprise to say the least).

Cheers.

hi... just got a set of viper supersports (vp2) on my sv 650 fantastic reviews for use in the dry and track days and they have amazing levels of grip. but on the down side tyre life is very short max 5000miles and not very good in the wet, so u have to decide what u want from your tyres, for w-end blasts in the dry, u won't get better for your sv, but if your a commuter and don't need that level of performance then just get bt023 of best of both worlds bt016 www.demontweaks.co.uk (http://www.demontweaks.co.uk) have a full range of tyres but they dont do avons so i get mine from jhc racing, which race sv650... i hope this helps a bit...

The Pilot Power 2ct's are awesome but may wear slightly to quickly if you do a lot of miles.

I've just fitted and scrubbed a set of new BT023s and going to Spa, Belgium tomorrow - so will be able to report back with a full evaluation next week hopefully...

So far so good - they are great in the dry; a revelation from the Z6 Roadtecs that have been replaced. :)

Avon Storms on mine, good feedback and grip, only had the bike 2000 miles now and not had any other tires on it to compare to but they seem to be holding up well (were just scrubbed in when I got the bike).

So - c.800 miles over 2 days riding to Spa and back.....

Good news = tyres were great both in the wet and dry - when I say great in the wet I mean 80mph through standing water on the Brussels ring road on the way there and still giving great feel and confidence on corners/bends. Despite getting a bit damp on the way there, this was to be a blessing in disguise as the M20 and M25 on Sunday evening was horrific, but it was good to have confidence in the bike beneath me - I literally just had to hang on and keep concentrating.

What was really impressive was seeing the swage of road left clear in the tyre tracks in my mirrors - these tyres were really moving the water out well thru the tread pattern. :)

Oh - the bad news? - I got thoroughly soaked but was well worth it for 6hrs of day/night pre-65 GT endurance racing at Spa! :)

And my little curvy didn't miss a beat all the way, needs a proper clean now mind!

I have just ordered BT023's for mine. Heard good thingsa about them for general commuting and that they can still handle being chucked about a bit at the weekends. I'm going to be commuting all year round so will be interesting to see how the handle a Scottish winter.

Very interesting test! So the Pilot Power has better handling and Wet grip than the Pure. Also surprising that the Pilot Power comes top for wet grip too!

I keep on going with the Metzler Z6 - they're black and round!

Have Metzeler Z6s Roadtecs at the mo - replaced Metzeler Z3 Sportecs for the winter. Wouldn't especially recommend them - less grippy in the wet than I'd hoped - they've got a bit tail-happy twice on roundabouts in the wet so far, and I'm no speed merchant. Reckon I'll shell out the extra £ for Avon Storm 2s next time - only heard good stuff about them.
