My iphone 3gs isn't being pushed emails (does that make sense?)
It's a hotmail account. I've got the Push setting turned on and the fetch setting turned to manual. It's never worked since I got the phone. It's on 02
I've tried turning the setting off and on and turning the phone off and on, but it doesn't receive them unless I open up the inbox.
Anything else to check?
You may have to set your hotmail account to allow push/fetch? Also password in setup of account in iPhone?
How often do you have 'fetch new data' set to?

How do I set up my hotmail account to do that? Password on iphone is fine because it can manually get emails

no your iphone supports push, its hotmail that doesn't.
Stupid hotmail .
you can set-up gmail and gmx to retrieve your hotmail emails if you want to make a new account.

I got that sort of thing yesterday. It said it had a signal but when I tried to phone it didn't ring or anything. Tried another number and same thing, just went in to call mode but no ringing. Switched it off and on and it was fine

It won't be setup as pop3 then. Must be an exchange server address or imap then for push.

just did a quick look around and you can setup hotmail to push by settings up an exchange account on the device and using the server address m.hotmail.com with ssl enabled.
Idon't use hotmail so didn't know this but I am still right as the pop3 protocol doesn't support push

I dont use hotmail, cant stand it, been with gmail for maybe 6 years now! I also think that @hotmail.com is way to common!
the reason your not getting your emails is because u have the 'fetch' set to manual. yes hotmail doesn't push emails to your phone, dunno why it just won't! meaning it won't go get ur hotmail emails till u ask it too, it 'fetches' when u open mail. change this to every 15mins and basically every 15mins the mail function on your iPhone will go to your hotmail account and look for emails. it's not quite the push function of a blackberry type thing but it's near enough for me.
hope this helps, I think it's the closest u can get to pushing emails from hotmail on an iphone

as above malks you can get it to push just set up as an exchange account with the correct server info.
