View Full Version : Google Earth - help
Using it last evening, and it crashed. It's now nowhere to be found - no icon on the desktop, isn't listed in "search programmes and files."
Opened Google Chrome, did a search and attempted to loads Earth. Appears to do the right things but after downloading/installing there is no desktop icon and no programme, although the Earth .exe file is there. :(
Opened up Norton 360 to see if its there, and its listed as incompatible. Switched off 360, and tried again - no joy . Switched 360 back on.
Windows Defender is also on the laptop, so had a look in there. Nothing obvious in there.

Would system restore lose the programmes/data already on the laptop?#

Nope not that type of restore. You pick a date in the past you want you computer state to return too, no files are deleted, some recently programs and setting altered AFTER the date selected will become uninstalled though.
start, all programs, accesories, system tools, system restore. Then select a date.
If I want to find anything I usually look for it in Google Earth.
try a full uninstall of google earth, delete anything related to google earth - ie program files and application data in your user profile (vista/7 = c:\users\<your username>\app data) (Windows XP: c:\documents and settings\<your username>\application data) etc.
then grab a free registry cleaner and do a scan to remove anything related to google earth there.
reinstall google earth from fresh download.
