You made trhe decision then, good luck.
As you know not many forces recruiting at the mo but I know Specials are always a good insight into what you would be getting into. Give you a bit of confidence and some scenario answers for the board when you do get passed the papersift.
Any help I can give PM me and I will help all I can xx

Yeh I have realised that I will probably have to be a special or a PCSO first which is fine.
Like I was saying to you SW it is the fitness part that I am worried about.
After I broke my pelvis it was a case of learning to walk again and my running isnt exactly running (more like pixie dancing :p ) so I will have to train and learn again

LOL I not seen a Pixie in a police uniform. Well you will have time to practice, I would check with ya doc first and see if he/she would sign you off. As half way thru the process is a medical that your doc has to sign that you would be fit to be a rozzer. Just a thought before you put yourself through it.
I don't know the extent of your injury etc etc so I may be speaking rubbish x

One thing I can tell you is that you would be lucky to get in, there is talk in some forces of cutting officer numbers.
In the Met some 2000 people who had passed everything were told that there was no job for them, but they could be a special but nothing more. As for your injury it will down to the force MO to decided if your fit. But the fitness test is easy so should be easy to pass. To get 5.4 on the beep test is not hard.
Good luck with it.

Rumour has it there's a battenburg BMW 4X4 going spare in Greater Manchester. Allegedly it's quick enough not to need too much running.

Become a stripper, you dress like a PC, you get to cuff wasted guys and you'll have more fun with the truncheon.

5.4? Ours is a good bit higher than that!! Think it's at least 7.5.
But yeh, my honest advice at the minute would be to join the the Specials, but have a look around and see if there are any other careers you might fancy and look a pursuing that first. Not a huge amount of career prospects with the Police for the several years. I'm not saying not to do it, just don't put all your eggs in one basket like I have!

It might come to that!!
I second going down the specials route, i had lots of chats with Nelson on here also spoke to MBK and they helped me quite a bit. I was unsuccesful on my application but hey ho, i was hoping to put it off for a couple of years any way.
Good luck in what you decide to do :)

MM - anything at all you want to ask, just holler. But like I said, don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Thanks MBK :)
Just feel stuck in a rut with no where to go at my job
It can take forever as well.
I applied for Nottinghamshire Police 2 years ago.
I passed everything and was given a start date of August this year, then it slipped to November. Then it got put on hold indefinitely. We may hear something in April 2011... but what we may hear is that our applications are being scrapped all together like the MET did with the 2000+ people on their waiting list.
I was in the same situation as yourself, sick of my job. Fortunately I've found a job recently that I am pretty happy with and pays more than after even 10 years in the force. If they do come back to me in April its going to be a damn hard decision because as much as my new job is exciting and pays well, there is something about the diversity and randomness of the police role that will probably still lure me that way despite the pay cut.
