Is there such a thing as WATERPROOF trousers?
Biked to work this morning in the rain with a pair of waterproof trousers I've only worn a few times, and I got that "damp" feeling in my crotch area.
Considered buying some hillwalking trousers. Don't mind paying a bit more cash if they actually work.
Any recommendations?
Thanks.
 its great isn't it you think you're safe from the rain and you get off looking like you've ****ed yourself
Sorry can't help you, I use a cheap Gelert pair of waterproofs that go over your pants. Work well apart from the crotch problem. I'm looking at RST Razor textile jeans as i've heard theyre good.
Just wanted you to know I feel your pain!

Ive got Alpinestars 2-piece and though they are designed for someone 8ft tall, they have repeatedly proven themselves to be totally waterproof in the most torrential rain. Well worth the £90, imo x

+1 for GoreTex
Gore tex, but if your on a smaller budger, my Richa trousers with removeable liining for winter have been the best daily bike trousers i've ever bought. Warm in winter, cool in summer, and not leaked yet 3 years in. They get used every single work day!!!

Have a look at the frank thomas 2 piece oversuit set. Comes in a nice little zip bag and the trousers fit under the rear seat.

Of all the waterproofs I've bought (including all-in-one 'oversuits') the only ones I've found to be completely 100% waterproof are my current Rukka ones - not cheap, but worth the money

My Akito trousers seem to be fully waterproof, its my jacket that lets the water in. And I have been out in some seriously heavy downpours
I may well invest in goretex stuff later in the winter.

I've got some Held Aqua waterproof over trousers. They were recommended by Ride magazine. I've found them to be excellent and, as they're over trousers, not that expensive either. I ought to buy the jacket too, as my FT jacket isn't very waterproof. Got mine from Get Geared:

*plug alert - I work for this company *
But... I wear a pair of these over my Hood jeans and they've been 100% waterproof so far in all weathers, including horizontal flash floods during last year's 'Summer' tour of Scotland.
Fashionable, they are not, but waterproof they are...

My 14 year old bargain bin special HG '80s colour scheme' all in one oversuit is still waterproof. My Spada textiles keep out the worst rain N. Wales can throw at them. All relatively budget kit kit, but it works.

Tiger55 had a set of Spada textiles on the first time I joined on the Ecosse annual Aviemore run and they kept him bone dry in some of the foulest weather I've even been in.
(My HG / Lewis textiles have also been 100% waterproof too).

Thank you for all the offers and advice. Went to Graham Tiso in Edinburgh today and bought a £45 pair of Berghaus trousers. The zips are free running and come up almost to your hips, so very easy to get on/off.
Lightweight, breathable, etc, etc....
Should do the job. Time and rain will tell....
Cheers.
Go to ya local army store hand over £20 get some decent waterproofs trousers! Viola - decent, real waterproofs at a decent price!
If you do get 2 piece - make sure jacket goes over trousers so the water can run away and not into the top of your trousers! - same with gloves - put jacket sleeves over the gloves , and put trousers over boots so water runs over not into them (probably telling ya how to suck eggs, but its always good to know! lol)

To answer your question, of course there are. But do you want a pair of motorcycle trousers that are waterproof as well as being protective, or are you after a pair of waterproof over-trousers to wear on top of whatever you're wearing?

Any gore-tex trouser is waterproof as long as it's kept clean - dirt can collect on the membrane and cause soakthrough. Best way to restore waterproofing is a decent wash with a special textiles cleaner (Nikwax do the stuff), and if you want you can give the outer membrane some repellency with a similar product.

If u don't wanna get raped at the dealers try a pair of spada waterproof armored trousers, I got a pair from local scooter shop for 50 quid and they keep me bone dry. Been wearing them over a year and been through washer several times without being retreated and they are still waterproof.
