I find the sentence, given the details in the report absoluetly astonishing!

But in fairness, they can't prove anymore than 27 charges and given the recent trend in lenient sentences, I would say this was a pretty good result!
The guy deserves many, many more years, I agree, but the hearsay that there MAY have been 1000 children, cannot be brought into play in a court case nor for sentencing.

Oh I get that Nic, I just think that the sentences laid out for this type of thing are simply not satisfactory.
As well as the criminal aspect to something like this I also think it should be a stay in Broadmoor, detained indefinitely at her majesty's pleasure. You've just got to be mentally sick to even contemplate something like this.
At the very least, under the current system, he should be detained till the victims have reached maturity, and hopefully wouldn't fear him. In this case at least 20 years.

Yep, completely agree with you but I was making that clear because not everyone who reads that article will realise that the hearsay stuff won't come into play.
This guy is clearly a dangerous predator.

It wll depend on what the current sentencing guidelines are, the judge cannot impose what he thinks is fair and right, he'll have to go by what the book says.
Its not right, but thats the way of things. Plus if this scum made an early guilty plea, he'll get his sentence reduce by an amount to reflect this. Saves money by not keeping the court tied up for weeks at an end on a not guilty plea. But I doubt he did go guilty, as his council will earn more money on a not guilty plea, despite the weight of evidence against him :smt094

I suppose the sentance depends on exactly what he did which understandably wouldnt be in the media, but the real issue is about him being allowed out while still a dangerous paedo. These people should be given a term in prison just like any other assault case, but there needs to be a further period of detention to make sure they are no longer a threat to kids when they are let out. That could mean life.

Yeah send him to broadmoor, my sicko school mate who is at her majesties would soon have him wishing he hadn't been a very naughty boy.

+1, that or ship him to to the middle east and watch them stone him to death instead.
