Does anyone know if there are any insurers out there who will insure a bike and a car on the same policy?

Cheers,

Toby

I consider the risk of multiple vehicle single policy to outweigh the possibly slight gain in initial premium against the cost if you have an accident.Considering we are talking bike and car this could possibly be higher on the risk of a bike related incident than a car but it results in a double whammy on your premiums come renewal.

Would you not get the same effect anyway as you have to declare any claims or losses?

When you apply for any car or bike policy you have to state any accidents (regardless of blame and claims) and claims.

Surely that means it's six and two threes claim/risk wise. Was the premium discount I was interested in, but aye, as dave said, you hgave to be 25. Gay

I'm assuming the deal is they don't really have any discount for owning a bike & car they just happen to have good deals from the underwriters for over 25s.
You have any bike claims toby?

Bike sure,,mce (careful with them),devitt, motorbike direct are all pretty cheap for me for bikes.
I find admiral and aviva cheapest for me for car but I have bike claims.

No mate, when it comes to renewal time I'll have 1 year no claims on the bike ad 6 years on the car

You do have to notify both companies in the case of an incident, if you have two policies but you only loose the N.C.B.on the policy you claim from. On a joint vehicle policy you loose all your N.C.B. as you only have one policy running covering both vehicles.
i.e Car six years N.C.B no accident,keep your N.C.B.
Bike six years N.C.B. accident.loose your N.C.B.
Your premium for the car should stay almost unaltered but your bike premium will go up .
With a joint policy the premium will go up on both vehicles.

Insurance companies do not normally let you transfer N.C.B. from one type of vehicle to another if this is what you hope to achieve[Gain max N.C.B.] they differentiate between the different classes on your license and vehicles.

Lets be honest ,they know that a motorcylist is a higher risk than a car,so if they can get you to loose your N.C.B. for both vehicles they are on a winner, maybe not initially, but the odds are in their favour.

I have insurance on eight vehicles which could be grouped onto a block policy as they all have max N.C.B.but I would rather pay the extra couple of hundred quid.
