picked up this little brute for a bit of winter fun :D
low miles, absolute mint and completely standard minus the tinted screen. truly awesome bike, pulls like a train in any gear and i was shocked at how well it handled for an old big bike, i lost the chicken strip just on the test ride  but there is no record of it having any suspension dohickery done to it. Theres one or to little problems i have with it like the ghey red screen that i dislike, found a very well hidden heated grip dial when i got it home but they don't work, its got a datatool rev light gauge that's mounted in a stupid place so that needs moving, its way way way to quiet for my liking and its got a god awful "fast bikes" tank pad ... got it home late yesterday afternoon in the ****ing rain, but thought bollox to it and went out in the rain........ anyway me likey :smt077
just wish it would stop fecking raining!! :smt067:smt026

Nice, I saw one almost identical to that in a dealer yesterday and thought to myself "winter hack" but I don't know alot about them and it only had a one month engine/gearbox warranty so didn't chance it

Tis nice Gav, except for that red screen, it wouldn't look out of place in a brothel ;)
Umm, that might have a 1000(ish) cc engine but it's not exactly what one would call a litrebike.
But you knew that, right?

its a 1002cc = 1.002L and it goes like **** off a shovel so yeah i'd call it a litre bike........
its the same motor that was put into the 99 R1, I'd certainly call that a litre bike

First litre bike I rode was one of those - immense thrust and unusual 5 speed box too - I know its an "older" bike but I found it to be a great bike to ride - you need to have self restraint though - license losing is easy on it!

You've bought a BlunderBus!
Great bike, watch the oil level and use the right grade - they drink oil if you use the wrong one.

after you'd suggested it i got home and had a look about, saw a few reasonably priced, got a test ride on one and thought fook me, that one sold but found this one last week. its seems to suit my stature and i find it quite comfy, that, a big tank and plenty or power ticks my boxes for a good long distance runner and the test ride left me realising that it would actually be a laugh when you got to your destination as well as just a work horse
so you can only feel partially chuffed ;)

I didn't think the 929 came in until 2000.

What do you call the people with proper ones then? 1.1 litre bikes? 2 pinters?
philbut
07-10-10, 11:20 AM
Ah crap. Maybe it's a 918 then. You're right the 929 came in in 2000. I always just put the blade in the same category as the Thunderace etc. Didn't even think about the fact its a 900 when I posted TBH.
And I soooooo wanted to be a member of the club too :-( Never mind, i'd probably get kicked out anyway for putting atop box on it...
In terms of power, the '99 blade makes about the same as my old '04 GSXR750 (or a well set up '96 ZX7-R)
So definitely not a true litrebike, by any stretch of the imagination.

Er are we allowed to count sets of pistons and barrels we have kicking about as well? Or just complete-ish motors?
645... 2 of those... err a 647... a 349 and a 124... there's a 749, a 1074 ... oh and a mighty 49cc in the shed
4233cc! Beaten by 100cc! Shall we start adding in the petrol driven tools and model plane motors
