Alright folks this question is orientated towards the racers here.

Who has had their GSXR front ends re-valved/re-sprung to suit the SV??
Who done it??
How much did it cost??
Noticable difference??

Ive a K4 1000 front end on my K3 SV and its being pulled down soon to be done over the winter. Thanks for your help

Me
Me
£80 for springs and about £20 worth of shims

Yes, enormous difference, night and day... the same difference you'd note going from SV to GSXR. But that is comparing with older SRAD stuff (soft), not sure offhand what springs K4 thou has as stock.

i might consider doing this in the future aswell, i think the k4 1000 forks are 0.85kg/mm which is one of the reasons why i used them as a lot of people my weight have changed the springs in the sv forks for the same. Iv checked the preload and sag though and it could probably do with softer springs  think a trip to someone who knows what theyr doin is in order!!

Whats the deal with changing shims?? did you get springs for your weight for an SV650??

You need springs to fit inside the forks you are using but in rate to suit the application.

To change the shims you need to strip the forks down to bare parts. Then it depends if pistons in those forks are worth re using or changing for some other high flow type depending on use.

Just to update this I ended up sending my front forks to PLR Suspension in Northern Ireland and they fitted a K-Tech 20mm kit including new adjusters and springs. I shall report back when I get her out for a test spin :cool:
