Weather is looking decent this weekend, who's up for a ride out somewhere?

Credit card's maxed and I'm doing more hours than ever!
It's a **** month for me; car insurance, tax, service, wiring fault (required to work) all due + bike insurance & tax + other more pressing expenses! :(
Have a good'n all anyway.

He'll be fine, Binky, eventually. Got an over active thyroid, and it's causing double vision at the moment, so no riding.

im arranging a rideout with a few mates leaving quatt cafe either saturday 2:30 or on sunday, we havent made the decision yet, maybe both

-Ralph-
06-10-10, 09:49 PM
Oulton Park is 2 hours 20 mins for me if I went motorway all the way (which I wouldn't want to do) so the return trip is a bit far. I may be able to get out for a more local rideout round Binkyland or Warwickshire though.

Specialone
06-10-10, 09:57 PM
It would be nice to go somewhere i hadnt been before, maybe south or something.
As it looks like i will be on my DRZ i dont wanna do stupid miles, or will have to go and pick up a courtesy bike from triumph in brum as they have said i can have a loaner for the weekend if i want, but would have to pick it up.

Binky, i was planning saturday , but could do sunday as well.

Binky
06-10-10, 11:04 PM
No going to be able to make it this weekend now.

There is no chance for me to go and pick my bike up any time soon.

Old Git
07-10-10, 11:55 AM
Phill, depending where & when, would likely be up for some miles, Sat. morning would be best for me since 'er indoors will be shopping.
But providing I do some of the decorating over the weekend, should be able to get a short term pass out.

Specialone
07-10-10, 12:39 PM
OG, as it looks like(hopefully) it's only gonna be me and ralph i was thinking of heading south somewhere, so that would probably suit you as well.

Unless I can be ar5ed to go and get a courtesy bike I'll be on my DRZ so long miles is not welcome :(

Saturday morning would be better for me also.

I'll have a look tonight where we could go.

How about meeting up in Stratford, then going somewhere south from there. Warwick is about equidistant between me an Old Git. If we can meet up relatively early (10am) that lets us get home for mid afternoon and do something else with the day.

Sounds good, i was gonna suggest meeting for brekkie first at long itch cafe, but thats a bit out of the way for OG.

We could go via bourton-on-the-water, loads of places for coffee and food :)

Old Git
07-10-10, 05:55 PM
Wahooo!!!!!
I am easy (go on ask me how I know!) Ralph/S1 am happy to go brekkie 1st if that is easiest, meet in stratford whatever.
Need to be back for latest 3pm since i have promised to take er indoors out for dinner sat. night & she likes to have a skinfull first.
So, choose between you both, give me a local & time ( I am up at 6am usually) & I will be there.
S1, know you guys like a bit off road, but remember I am boring & only do TARMAC!:smt047 NO impulse green laning like you did with Ravin Davis¬!

Old Git
07-10-10, 06:07 PM
More I think about it, more I like the idea of brekkie, u guys fancy doing somewhere that has a witherspoons, when out on me tod, usually dive into one of these for a fry-up? Stratford has one (since you already suggested this as a possible location) but there are plenty around as you know.
I don;t know where you guys are starting from, so sorry can't suggest anything else really.

Specialone
07-10-10, 06:32 PM
My favourite place for a full English is long itchington cafe on the southam road, Its a converted petrol garage.

But dont mind witherspoons either :)

-Ralph-
07-10-10, 07:01 PM
Long itch is closer for me and about half way between me and OG, but Stratford Weatherspoons is fine too. You two fight it out between you over who does better brekkie! ;-)

Specialone
07-10-10, 07:04 PM
The only thing that puts me off Stratford is when the weather is half decent on the weekends is gets stupidly busy with tourists.

I can vouch for the food at long itch also, it's lovely :)

Old Git
07-10-10, 07:31 PM
OK, long itch it is then!
Give me a time to arrive & a compass bearing / postcode & C U there:smt026

Anyone else avoid the till in the supermarket that's being manned by an adolescent lad? It's always the slowest queue.

Their female counterparts however, the slower the queue the better :-)

Right lady boys...looks like I am in for this. Feeling a little better and fresh air will probably help.

I can pay Ralph his breakfast too :)

Meet you at Long Itch Diner at 9.30ish. Ralph which way are you going?

Oi! Barwell's the only lady boy. The rest of us are far too old for that caper.

Cool! :D And I'll buy Phil's breakfast because it's my turn to pay for his after the last green laning trip...

:smt017 Actually, why don't you just buy Phil's.

Anyway, I'm going this way...

I'll be leaving mine at 8:45.

-Ralph-

Mr Speirs
08-10-10, 07:37 PM
Not really. It involves me going through town which slows me up. I can get to Brixworth quicker than I can get to Spratton.
Okies I will leave at a suitable time and should be at the turn in time for you as you ride past. Shibby!!

Stop in bourton-on-the water for a coffee and a cake or whatever, then back to stratford for ice cream.

Have you noticed all my stops are food based lol

Feel free to add some better roads or remove crappy ones, ive just thrown this together tbh.

Love a go chris, im on my DRZ tomorrow so im sure that would put a smile on your face :)

BARSTEWARD AND DOUBLE BARSTEWARD

Just come back in from 2 hours working on the SV, fault finding and fixing 12v socket, fitting sat nav mount, adjusting chain, adjusting tyre pressures, topping up oil, etc, etc

Thought "I've had the battery disconnected so I'd better check it's starting OK", and I find it's firing on one cylinder. It started it after a ride in a monsoon last weekend, and not until after I'd washed it, so I thought it's just wet. Tried to undo the bottom bolt that holds the radiator in place to get at the front spark plug, and it sheared off! Arrgggghhh.

So I'm coming on the XT tomorrow, move the sat nav mount back, check the tyre pressures on that, etc, etc, etc.

Then when I thought I was sorted I noticed my visor could do with a clean, so gave it a wipe then picked up an sprayed it from this can

http://www.holtsauto.com/images/products/valeting/motorcycle/holts-motorcycle-degreaser-hi.jpg

instead of from this can

http://motorcycleproducts.co.uk/catalogue/images/993460.jpg

Arrrgggggghhhh!

See you tomorrow :D

Sorry about the bit of confusion when we went up the hill towards stow-on-the-wold, gave it some beans, all the way round the outside then realised I did not know which way we were supposed to be going - PlanK

No mate, when riding someone elses pride and joy I'm especially careful, funny it hadn't crossed my mind that you had binned mine ;)

Loved your bike mate :) me likey very muchly.

That's made it into my 10 bike garage :)

Btw, just soaked air filter on my DRZ and the crap that came out was horrible, says in manual, loss of power and increased fuel consumption means air filter so hopefully that would explain slight loss of power, didn't feel quite at the races today, power wise.

Just put in 1.5 litres of oil in as well, ragged it all out :)

Looks like she's dipping into her handbag to pay Mr Speirs for "the ride", and he's putting his helmet down so he can reach out and pocket the cash :smt042. Ye Pikey you ;)
