I think you may need to take the R/H fairing off to access the bulbs from behind

Pain in the A$$!!!!!! when i got my 2000 curvy it had no working bulbs in, i bought LED replacements (theyre AWESOME!) to change mine i had to literally take the whole front apart (both side fairings and nose cone, headlights, and then clocks)

This is the place i got my bulbs, Cheaper than my local dealers per bulb - https://www.crazyleds.co.uk/
REALLY quick postage and well packed too!

+1 to the pain in the A$$ bit,
i managed to get the clock housing off with out removing the lights, then i found that there are 3 bulbs that needed replacing and i only bought 2

Takes about 20 mins to get everything off (once you know what your doing) to then fit the bulbs that take 2 minutes, then as Mr haynes states, replacement is a reversal of removal.

Let me go and find my guide...but as said the whole fairing has to come off.

Here we go

I tired LEDs but found tem a bit narrow on light output therefore creating 'hot spots' of light.

does look like it has some hot spots but the picture makes it look much worse than it actually is

I went for green to match the bike.

I used cheap green LEDs off eBay in the clocks also changed the neutral light fullbeam light etc with the relevant coloured LEDs as well

The 5mm capless bulbs also known as 286 bulbs fit you can get them from eBay pretty cheap in a few different colours can also get them from www.ultraleds.co.uk (I get a few from here, not the cheapest but good quality)

I have blue bulbs in mine but also purchased white (tried them both and liked the blue better) I have quite bad bright spots with them in, if i was to do it again (i will be in the nearish future) i would use these
https://www.crazyleds.co.uk/product.php?productid=306&cat=73&page=2&keep_https=yes

(they are twice as expensive but i guess would give wider coverage!!?)

These type do give a better spread of light but that also makes them seem not as bright (I fitted some to a Fiesta not too long ago)

the green LEDs I have in my clocks have a sort of concave lense on them where as most have a convex not sure how much of a difference that would make though. Might get some LEDs out later and see if it does make a difference

Right here's a cheapy blue LED the lense is completely flat on the end

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x241/dirtydog88/0e1a135b.jpg

and then one of these (bit more expensive from ultraleds)

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x241/dirtydog88/3e4f77bf.jpg

here's the green ones I have in my SV, has a concave end on the lense
http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x241/dirtydog88/b2169254.jpg
http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x241/dirtydog88/0c174d58.jpg

and here's another cheapy one it has a rounded end to the lense and is slightly frosted/diffused
http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x241/dirtydog88/59669b18.jpg
http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x241/dirtydog88/91ad31bd.jpg

they're not as bright as they would be aas I was only testing with 9v instead of 12v but i'm you get the idea that there is a fair bit of difference between them all

OK, I know this is an old thread, but for those Org'rs who are considering changing their bulbs for LED's, this needs reviving.
Some great info on here. I need to replace a dash bulb, so decided to go the LED route (but change them all at the same time). But, there seems to be an endless choice. The info & pics on here give a great idea of what to go for. I've decided to get these (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007AD1VWQ/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00) & these (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0068MC9F8/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00), hopefully they'll give plenty of light with a wide beam.
Thanks ppl. :salut:
