ATM, I'm riding a honda XR125 and its a big step up.
any advice for the first ride out??
my dad has a SV1000 (silver) and my brother has a SV650 (blue)
they say about you have to steer left to go right and right to go left.
I'm pretty sure i'll be fine but if you have any advice please post a comment! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rave: Lol

Welcome from another Newbie in a very similar situation, Riding a CG125 and have a Blue SV for when I pass mod 2, which I have tomorrow.

The backwards steering thing is counter steering, you will already be doing it on the XR without thinking about it. That's the best way really but if you want to get your head around it then find a straight and wide, quiet road and at about 30 on the XR push the right bar gently the bike will 'roll' right and head off that way, push the left to go left.

Oh and Pics Please:mrgreen:

Don't worry about the turn left to go right thing - its called counter steering, and it happens naturally over about 15mph. Later on in your riding life, you can try and develop the art to aid turning.

First ride out on the bigger bike, the best advice is to remember whos on top... you're the one in charge of the controls, so it'll only go as fast or as slow as you make it. I'd recommend not going out with experienced riders immediately, as that will encourage you to go faster than you might be comfortable with, but it can be a good tutoring tool once you're starting to get a feel for how the bike behaves.

Apart from that, welcome aboard the good ship org and good luck with the test.

Welcome to the forum!

advice - tyres down, shiny bit up.

Other than that, if you're going to drop it do it from a standstill, not whilst moving.

Good luck and ride safe.
