Hi All,
I was in C J Balls (Hales) today and got a quote for Avon Storm Ultra 2's fitted on my SV650 and their best price was £258...
Do you know of anywhere good that will do it for less in the area? If it's a while-u-wait service I am willing to travel 15-20miles max depending on price...
Is circa £250 about the going rate?
Whyyyyyyy are you changing your tyres already?

Just getting ahead of myself....I'd like to know where the best places are
Saying that I am tempted to change them sooner rather than later from what I have heard, most people that have waited until their current stock tyres are worn down to change them wished they had made the switch up front...good tyres are the best upgrade for a bike...
p.s. nice to see you're working hard like me ;)
I say you keep your current tyres and just give me the money instead ;)
I'm always working hard!
I always get my tyres from Hammond Tyres in Halesworth - http://www.hammondgroup.co.uk/tyres
Great prices and service - if you speak to Keith tell him Skip sent you :)

I'll check them out, thanks Skip
Me too. Mine are running low now (I bet the rear will stand up by its self again!) and I've been looking for a local tyre place. My current set came from a very local independent garage and his service was excellent but I think his stock options are limited. I'll give both a call and see who wins.
could always buy a set from blackcircles and take them to your local place to get fitted, think i've got a 5% off code some where as well

Are fitters generally okay with you bringing your own tyres? I could expect some will just say no...?

Black Circles have deals with the usual names of tyres fitters - I had some fitted to a car a few years ago and the "Black Circle Depot" near to me was actually STS Tyre Pros in Watton!
don't think that they have a deal with bike tyre fitters but if you phone your local bike place and ask them for a price for fitting 2 tyres they shouldn't have a problem with it, think they do next day delivery its just a case of getting your bike and new tyres to the shop for fitting

Not quite what the title suggests anymore but I was just reading the reviews on my current stock tyres and they're well thought of...
The tyres are Dunlop Sportmax D220 ST's
Any one else care to share their views on them?
Where are these reviews?! As I said to you there are loads of threads on here of people wishing they had swapped earlier... Still, if you are getting on alright with them then there is no real reason to change...

I did a bit of digging, mostly touring riders opinions I was going on, but here's a list of ratings from several riders: http://www.tyretest.com/motorradreifen/dunlop/sportmax_d_220_st/index.html
I think I am getting on okay with them but as I have never had anything other than these I've not got a lot to compare to :)
Next tyres will no doubt be the ultra II's or maybe the ct2's as everyone rates them and I'd like to try something different anyway.
It's just the question of now or when they need replacing...I'll see how my current contract goes, if I'm confirmed before Christmas, to be in there 'til early spring, then I'll spend some cash on them before I need them otherwise I'll stick with what I've got I reckon. Chances are I will replace them and like you say think "why didn't I replace them sooner!" but I get the feeling it's almost a rite of passage for a new rider
It would be interesting to know what tyres people had before they swapped and wished they'd done it earlier...if you're talking about new SV650 owners that had the same tyres as me that would be good to know!
