Thursday will be six weeks. Official day I can drive again:cheers: *

It will also be when I pop off to the docs to be checked over. First question in the queue, when will I be able to ride again:confused:
Now I've taken it easyish, well as easy to be expected, busy mum of two can't resist popping off to Asda and pushing trollies:rolleyes:

I have a goal, 31st October. The Raptors tax runs out then, and I shan't be renewing it over winter, I want at least one ride on my new steed this year.
Thing is(obviously), I've kinda lost all tone and strength in my abdomen after a C-section, and have to be careful what sort of exercise I should be doing. Docs bound to tell me to stay away from bikes forever, but I need to get back on, so any advice from fitness peeps out there will be most appreciated. I've been doing all the things the pyhsio told me in hospital, but now I need something with a little more oomph. I've increased the walking but its not enough.

Yes I am aware I may be asking too much of myself, but I need to get on with things now.

*I haven't been driving for two weeks honest!

Just be careful chick. Not gonna offer any advice because I wouldn't want to suggest something which would hold you back or cause you injury.

I kinda know my limitations. One day of pushing the boundary further, gives a day backwards..but the next time I try, the boundary is easier to be pushed...if you get what I mean.

Fact is, I'm bored to tears with taking it easy, and if I keep doing easy, I'll end up a couch potato, with no motivation.

I learnt the hard way, when I insisted on doing a weeks shop, two days after the op! So I learnt a valuable lesson :-(

a strict fitness regime of cooking, cleaning, and parenting should do the job

I understand your impatience hun, it`d drive me mad too but just take it easy. They do normally say 6 weeks after general surgery for driving but not sure about the bike. I`d imagine that if you feel you`d be in full control and able to do an emergency stop if needs be then you should be ok.

It doesn`t really matter what anyone says tho cos you`re gonna do it anyway :D

Lou, why dont you see what your local swimming baths are doing and if they have any water aerobic type thing. Low impact and you can go at your own pace.

The big stuff..... lots of stretchy aerobic exercise, tightens the tummy and easy on the joints too. Mental as well as physical workout.

You're in Yorkshire, yes? See here: http://www.yacr.org.uk/

Sorry Dizzy I've not been on the forum for ages, so first of all [belated] congratulations!
For now, just be 'tummy aware'....when you're perhaps standing in the kitchen hold you abdominal muscles in as hard as you can and repeat a few times. Another good one is to lie on your back with your knees bent and tilt your pelvis forward [but not off the ground] and suck in your abs. Breathing in as you tilt and out as you release.
Don't even attempt the harder crunches etc. You've still a lot of healing to do.
Hugs for you and the baba x:D

I agree with Anna on this one - gentle swimming is best for the mo, uses all your muscles without putting too much stress on your back and pelvic area. I had spinal surgery just over 6 months ago, still in rehab so I know how you feel. Take it easy - it's much better for you in the long run.
Look forward to seeing you at GMIV \\:D/

I have been successfully doing these for a week or two now, I don't have to pull faces trying to get them to perform;)
Not the laying on my back one as yet, but I seem to end up doing a sit up when getting out of bed. Also seem to end up doing a lot of squats (bad thing I think)

Anna and Sunny, I'm not particularly fond of swimming for a few reasons. One of which is, it really puts strain on my shoulder thats buggered, obviously you need your arms to swim, but it dislikes it very much. I end up having to counteract with a barrel load of palates exercises.
I think I perhaps will have to kick myself to go swimming as it has so many benefits.

I did sit on Smudges new Trumpet today, its the first time I've attempted a try since the C section. The scar wasn't the problem, my tummy just below my belly button is rather sensitive, and it was first to complain:( soooo not quite yet!

Perhaps get yourself a float and just use your legs to propell you in the swimming pool? That would prevent you from needing your arms.

There's a load of wet aerobics classes and stuff that will have less impact on your shoulder than actual swimming

Well the Doctor, when asked a silly question, replied

''There is no real reason why you can'y get on the back of a bike. You know your own body, and I am sure you can use your own judgement''.

:cheers::cheers:

I asked about pushing the weight about, to manoevre them etc, and the response was the same.
