Right, my wife is trying to sell her Dad's almost brand new car. Sadly he passed away in July and her mum doesn't drive

Only one snippet of interest so far. See the correspondance from Jeff Dave or Dave Jeff below. Ive removed my wife's email address.

So who is his agent? Got to be a scammer :smt019

Thank you for your e-mail..

I have just contacted my agent to pay you by cheque/Draft from my Bank, the cheque/Draft will take only 5 days to your account, the cheque/Draft will be sent to you this week.

The following information is required by my agent to issue and send you the cheque/Draft to you:

1, Full names
2, Full Address

My last price would be £7500. I'm selling it for my mum who doesn't drive, it was my dad's car but he died in july and so mum needs to sell it.

Thanks for your enquiry.

walk away and ignore emails from this type-if you entertain them hell mend you for getting stung, there's more than enough info telling folk to ignore these cons-if you want the car sold quick go speak to a dealer and see what he'll give you or stick it on ebay with your reserve-only cost you 30 quid

its really sick how much of this goes on-recently had an old dear conned out of 8 grand for a back garden job worth about 50 quid, and a guy ended up losing his life savings because some conman from nigeria had him buy travellers cheques for a fraction of the price but they turned out to be fake-he sent him real ones the first couple of times then stung him for his savings and sent the fakes-its sad.

Haha, that just made me giggle. Would be great if you could see it through. Last time I got one of those, I sent a "get lost" type reply and got the most abusive email back...lol. I just don't bother anymore.

Hope you get to take him for a nice long walk up the garden path!

Mrs isn't keen, but I'm up for this. Of course I won't even approach him, but I'm guessing he'll stick out a bit in my neck of the woods ;)

I'll admit, sending me a nigerian is far more creative than the spam gay porn mail I was expecting though!

I doubt mr umbongo has any intention to come and get your car. He will have sent a cheque for £8000, and will ask you to send the other £500 to his shipping agent.

In that case Mr Umbongo's agent will have to come and collect the cheque :p

Right update on the last couple of days activity and a startling revalation

Mr Umbongo is not Nigerian, he's really Mr Knickersoffski from the Ukraine

Well Mr K as we'll call him sent MRS MZ an email requesting £3500 to pay to his agent to ship the car to him

Turns out the ficticous cheque he'd sent to Mrs G Raffe, at Letsby Ave had an extra £3500 added to the price of the purchase of the car. (yer right everyone pays up front shipping costs :smt019)

Oh yes could we send the money by Western Union, by Friday morning

We'd told him cheque was due to clear Monday, so scam is to get us to pay him from our money, before his rubber cheque is discovered, hence the need to pay him by this morning.

Wifey told him yesterday that it wouldn't be possible to get to Western Union (not that she would ever do this)

He asked if my wifes mum could do the transfer, as it was her car, sorry no he was told.

I was going to send him a penny, as he wanted the Western Union reference once we'd transferred the money

I also offered to get my brother in law to drive the car there, as he's working in the Ukraine at the mo.

Sadley Mr K has gone quiet on email since yesterday

Mrs called the Police to report it, but they couldn't do anything, although he did laugh when Mrs told him the ficticous name & address we'd given Mr K

Thats why I wanted to send him just a penny by Western Union :p

I was out the whole day, so wifey had to think up the answers, she's not as evil & twisted as I am

Final installment of the scam.

Well Mr K sent a few emails asking for payment to his agent to be mage by 10 on Monday, which was when the fictious cheque he'd sent should have cleared. So my wife responded to him that she had in fact sent him the £3500, although convieniently forgetting the Western Union reference number he wanted.

Several emails were exchanged with Mr K, as he wanted various details of the Western Union transfer, commission paid, amount sent, by whom sent etc, as he must have been in or nearby a Western Union branch desperately waiting for the money to arrive, before his dodgy cheque bounced, as although it might have cleared in the UK bank, it would still not have been cleared in the foreign bank, which is how the fraud works.

Anyway the final email from him asked when his agent could collect the car  (yeh right)

So my wife sent him the following, plus these pictures

This is where the car is kept (our local)
