Speaking as Admin.... I asked Matt to run trade ads past me first before posting, that's all. Perhaps Matt is referring to a message from one of the Mods, I'm not sure as I haven't read the entire thread. This is the thread, please read the first post. Is this an ad or not?
http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=154076
Perhaps we are talking at cross purpose here and there is another thread that I haven't seen.
I'm puzzled.
As I've just explained to Matt, I try not to spoil this site by having advertising plastered all over the place. I like to let people with a genuine interest in the SV and our readership, place selected Ads here and on the main site (and I include Matt in that statement).
What I don't want to see is parasites who only register simply to plug their dubious wares and mods are under instructions to pull those threads unless they've heard otherwise from me. I refer to the recent spammer who plastered threads about heated hair straighteners as an example.
So if there is another thread about measuring for parts, please point me at and maybe I can work out where the communications have broken down.
John
I suppose at the end of the day its the admins decision as to what goes. Moaning about it isnt going to get you any further.

I always wondered what's the secret for creating a great community.

I think a compramise should of been met. Parts for sale in the "for sale" section and requests for dimensions insv talk or something. I appeal to both yourself and the admin to come to a comprimise. I think you are a beneficial part of this org and i dont think others offer a similiar service. i think you give something back to org members by offering the first run off to the individual who provided the dimensions. no-one else does this and i think it will be a shame to loose you from this org.
Go kiss and make up now!!!!!!!!!!!

a very dissapointed member!

I think a compromise should have been met. Ads in the "for sale" section and requests for dimensions in sv talk or something like that. Matt I read your posts with great interest and I believe that you offer a genuine service. The "pass on dimensions" and you get the first set free is a fantastic way to give something back to the org members and I don’t think you would find this service elsewhere.
I appeal to both yourself and the admin, put the difference aside and meet half way.

A disappointed org member!!!
Sensible stuff.
Its not like this guy is a scammer or a scumbag so we should be able to accomadate without falling out?

This is the PM that was sent to Matt after one of his threads in SV Talk & Tuning was reported in the mods section.
Matt,
Regarding your latest post http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=154076
This strikes me as a trade ad and I would appreciate it if you run it past me or the mods first before posting in future.
The reason I ask this is because I'm trying to protect the site from chancers who just sign up to flog their wares and have little interest in the SV or bikes. I know that doesn't apply to you.
The Mods are under instructions to remove trade ads when they see them unless they have a ok from me. They won't get an okay from me unless I've seen the ad or been told about it by the poster.
In this case the Mods have spotted the Ad and are asking me if I've been approached. I've told them to leave this one and said I'd drop you a PM
Hope you understand where I'm coming from.
Thanks
John
All we have asked him to do is to follow a simple process as outlined by John, in order to ensure that his posts / threads dont get removed.

ah-make the text white duh
I don't see the problem....not like you get much for Free these days!!
Plus, as I read it, Matt was asking for help to make a product that would benefit this forums members, plus the discount. And the person who would have given the info, would have definitely benefitted.
I don't want to see adverts here there and everywhere, but someone who is a bonafide member of this forum, offering discounts and Free things, should be given some slack IMO.

lets have a Matts offerings in one section and a Matts requests in another!
He must of earned that by now!!!!!
Lets just clarify something here. It had nothing to do with asking for dimensions ok.
Jeeeez!

WOOOOO HOOOO!!
Thanks Speedy, finally someone who can actually see what we are doing is positive for the forum. I have withdrawn the advert for the lights which was originally wrote at the start of July but admin have only just looked at it. I DONT EVEN SELL THEM, IT WAS FOR SOMEONE ELSE!
I will reinstate the discount for SV ORG as it is quite clear that at least some people find a 25% discount code appealing.
It is not like i put adverts up here all the time (1 every 15 months currently) so i think some slack should be given to me, as far as i am aware everyone thinks our products are great, and i know they are!
Finally i asked for dimensions of the rearset mounting holes, i will go get them myself today. Thanks anyway!

Then you read it wrong.
The post in question was an advert to advertise a new product and a discount with no mention of asking for dimensions and there was no dispute or objection to him asking for dimensions and there was no dispute in him actually posting his adverts.
The only condition was that he let the site admin know he was posting his advert so that the other mods didn't delete it as they have been instructed to do with all adverts.
The OP has acted like a proper child in this matter and started 3 threads whinging and misquoting the mods and their intentions.
If his business model focuses on targeting his customers for free directly through this site and all the Admin ask for in return is a 'heads up' so they know its coming, then he might start wanting to make some apologies to continue or admit he may have gotten the wrong end of the stick.
Either way for a person to react so publicly and so poorly is shocking and reminds me more of a petulant teenager than a professional business owner and maybe is an insight into who your doing business with.
I remember there being some dispute a few months back where goods hadn't been delivered anywhere near when they were quoted and that was also handled very poorly...just saying.

Thanks for just saying....
As you are aware the advert for lights was 1 advert in 15 months (quite a small advertising campaign that wasnt it) and it wasnt even for my own business, plus it took the admin over 3 months to check it and highlight it.
So a product took a while to get delivered, every week 1 or 2 may be delayed sometimes our fault sometimes third party companies we use and have no control over. We deliver hundreds of kits all made in the UK a year, if i wanted to sell the usual chinese crap and stack it high sell it expensive like the big dealers i would, they still take along time to deliver stuff from my 10 years in the business experience.
We deliver 99% of the time in the time scale we state....rarely a problem arises.

Yes but it's that 1% and how you deal with the customer when they complain that determines how good your company is...and frankly how you spoke to DarrenSV650S when he complained was one of the worst displays of customer service I have ever witnessed.

I'm going to lock this as it is turning into a duplication of the other thread, can we keep the discussion in one thread please
Thanks
