Hi All,

I just wondered if anyone knew a good reliable company that sells the Magnatec Oil.

I'm just after a good supplier, as I don't like Halfords.

Im sure that they only do Castrol Magnatec for cars, if your planning on putting that in your bike dont, get Castrol Power 1 GPS 10w-40 instead

My Bad... I wasn't completely thinking when I wrote the headline.

Castrol Power 1 GPS 10w-40 would be what I'm after. :-P

Pref 4Litres ones.

The best I have found is £31ish inc Postage for 4Litres.

Thing is as much as I hate Halfords they charge £33.

Hmmm somewhere must do a nice little deal.

I don't want to keep on but if you haven't already it's worth reading this (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=125457) which is stickied at the top of the SV tuning and tweaking section.

I trust this 100% and the author has a ZX6R which has over 120 000 miles on it and it's still going strong. Personally I'm perfectly happy putting Motul I'm all my bikes.

(Just trying to save you some moolah ;))

£14.99 is a great price and there isn't going to be THAT much difference between Castrol & Motul

More important to change the oil regularly than worry about a particular brand

Costco are doing Castrol semi synthetic for £6.85 a tub! IIRC they're doing Magnatec for a tenner.

What do people think of the Silkolene stuff?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SILKOLENE-COMP-4-SEMI-SYNTHETIC-10W-40-OIL-4LTRS_W0QQitemZ370253930527QQcmdZViewItem?rvr_id=1 54233785202&rvr_id=154233785202&cguid=9c88bc9c12b0a0aa14c1f661ffa51679

Is it semi-synth or fully synth? That ebay auction says semi, but the bottle says "Synthetic ester based with Electrosyntec Technology", whatever that means.

Anyway, that's what my Suzuki dealer used from new up to the first 16000 miles, so I have always kept a bottle for top ups, then carried on with it when I took over servicing of the bike at 20000. My engine is at 23500 now and runs sweet as a nut, always has.

I use the Halfords 10/40 Motorcycle in the XT600, but that engine would be happy enough using cooking oil as a lubricant

I use Fully Synthetic.

That eBay auction works out quite expensive with postage on top...

Yes, your right. It's about 30 quid in some of the bike accessory stores.

Is that one fully synth then?
