View Full Version : Can I use my Super 4 10w40 4 stroke oil in my car?
I know it isn't really bike related, but I need to top the car up and have some in the shed that I have no use for.
The car is an old Mk3 golf convertible?

Cars have a dry clutch, bikes have a wet clutch (except some posh ones). The reason you can't use car oil in a bike is because the additives cause clutch slip. So according to my tenuous theory, assuming your car is supposed to use 10W40, it'll be fine cos the oil goes nowhere near the clutch. Maybe?

I'd tend to agree, if it was car oil into a bike I'd say no, but the other way round? Its not going to do much wrong ;)
I chuck any old muck in my 13year old cav :p But I change it once a year without fail
