There is a special polish for carbon fibre to remove crap and give the carbon firbe its shine back.

No idea what it is though, I was watching a video on Detailing World where they did an entire F430 Scuderia in carbon.

its an exhuast

had another look and it would appear the resin has thinned on one side making it look dull father than faded, wondering if i can dust some lacquer over it as doesn't seem to get that hot

I did a season racing with a carbon can that was on my road bike when I first converted it. By the time the season was over it crumbled like dust! Repacking is good! No idea how to clean carbon though...

You can Tcut the resin (Tcut is only silver polish in a different tin :) ) but once you reach the fibres, its all over. However, theres nothing to stop you from applying more resin over the old stuff. I do it all the time with fishing rods. You need to make a low viscocity mix and put the can on a turner (old microwave turntable motor) apply Epoxy with a brush and leave to turn. The slower setting the epoxy the better the leveling will be. I use 16 hour stuff for perfect results on fishing rods. There's some new UV cure stuff on the marken now but it needs a specific wavelength to set it and its not cheap for the lamp. The UV stuff tends to yellow with time too.
