So I've been thinking - I'd like to get a little 125cc offroady bike, partly because I'm missing being in the saddle and partly because I want to get some green-laning and offroad work under my belt, it looks fun :D

So, firstly, what are the good solid bikes to go for, and secondly roughly how much can I expect to pay for one? Just doing a bit of research at the moment seeing costings and things, seeing if I can actually afford it!

Cheers lads and ladies!

125 unless your looking at a 2 stroke id personally look for somthing a little bigger.
Dr350?

Possibly, don't know when I'll next be able to take my Mod 2, so might need to be learner-legal. But I'll consider the suggestion! Thanks :D

Wouldnt it be a good idea to get that out the way 1st before thinking of getting a bike though?

yup...stock that is... i should be pushing about 37-38 when im done from very simple mods, as its very restricted and tuned down.

You'd think that wouldn't you... but then again I'm not famous for good ideas. ;)

I was aiming at the 125 partly because I could ride it on my CBT and partly because it would cost a lot less to insure than something with a bigger capacity after I pass my test. And I'm pretty happy with the power of a 125 :D

DT125R is a good solid bike for a bit of off/on-road fun.

125's seem to hold their price though as theres always someone who needs one for their test etc.

We use them at the school.

Can be very temperamental.
We binned them for suzuki's in the end.

DTR125 or Honda XR125 are good, solid, nothing to go wrong bikes that will do on/off road stuff.

But for the :smt040 get a CR125 and get dirty like MBK

The wee Husqvarna WR125 I had for a while was the maddest, mentalist, bad-assed machine ever and it was a hoot! Gutted I had to sell it (damn house buying), and I'll certainly be looking for another one in a couple of years.

Much quicker than my mate's KTM 125 and the handling was more flighty and nimble too, great bike!

Just been looking for something that I can commute to work on (8 miles of B-roads) - that will do lots and lots of MPG and also be useful for a bit of green laning - I think for a small budget like mine (£1000-£1500) a post-1995 (electric start version) Suzuki DR350 is the way to go - in fact its the way I may well go :)

Im all up for the Dr350....wonder why?

but otherwise i think a dt125 or other 2 stroke would be fun and relatively easy to maintain.
